Lazarus was also his childhood friend. This "story" actually occurred 2023 years ago and spilt time of mankind. The humble message preached for Jews and Gentiles needing a "spiritual rebirth" along with repentance of sin in order to have a relationship with God vs a religion of life with or without rules and ceremony is why he came, is worshiped, loved and remembered 2023 years later.

Most of what I've heard and read here is true. What is missing from the Raising of Lazarus from the Dead is the key purpose in Jesus's doing that. It wasn't to show His power to raise someone (including us) from the dead, as He had done that more than once already. The monumental reason for Raising Lazarus was to show us how it is that we are actually saved. There was Lazarus - dead. He wasn't seeking Jesus at that time, nor was he repenting, nor had he been baptized, nor could he even think - he was DEAD. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead only because He chose to do so. Lazarus was one of many of Jesus's chosen sheep, and so are you if you are a Christian. You were dead (in sin) and totally incapable of choosing Jesus. You have been chosen, and so have I. Scripture teaches that, in spite of what we're hearing from our pulpits.
