How To Pass The Hazard Perception Test | Updated 2024

As part of the DVSA Theory Test in UK Learner's must take a driving Hazard Perception Test. The Hazard Perception test, introduced in 2002, is an interactive test that assesses how well a learner driver can spot and react to various hazardous situation on the road.

In this video Francis The Instructor gives an overview of why the Hazard Perception Test was introduced into the UK Theory Test, what to expect in the Hazard Perception Test and some real life examples and tips. He also explains the difference between Potential Hazards, Developing Hazards and Actual Hazards.

I revised daily for 3 months then went for my theory test. Passed with flying colours. 70/75 for my hazard perception and 49/50 for my questions. My instructor can tell how much I took in from the theory as its made me so much more aware of the road markings/signs and hazards. Understanding the theory test is key to being a safe driver so all that revision is really worth it. Also don't hurt to come back and re-read the books.

This was rlly helpful- I kept getting marked down for clicking the hazard too early. I’d see a bike coming and click just before the 5 pointer and end up getting 0 :(

Hazard perception is hard...the 5 4 3 2 1 score is dumb aswell it's almost impossible to score 5 or know when to exactly click
