I like to make up fake (sarcastic?) stories, engage in dark jokes, irreverent humor, and occasionally be slap stick silly by dancing around or doing silly tricks. One thing I've learned, is that when I'm trying to be funny; no one else finds me funny. When I'm being normal but very honest, people laugh their asses off. Honesty must be a rare thing to be so funny.

Sometimes the humor of a INFJ can only be understood by very smart or knowledgeable person; otherwise the humor might be misunderstood...and hurtful for those who can not understand it

I appreciate dry humor and absurdist humor. People typically think I'm very serious or innocent so when I test the waters a bit with my humor, it's interesting to see the reactions. Sometimes it's a tough crowd out there.

So true, always told "Thought you were so innocent/such an angel!" We can make it work for us:D Really great for customer service lol

i can relate. my true humor doesn't come out until I'm comfortable with who I'm with and am not scared of how they will react. Many people have been surprised by my sense of humor once it comes out, it can be quite silly and maybe controversial at times :P

I couldn’t help but laugh when you said that people are surprised when they find out “how bad you are”. That’s so true! And I agree that some people may never see our humor. I never thought about your point of being aware of the transgressions we commit in humor. What really struck me was how you said that our intent is never malicious. I find that so characteristic of me. I would add how sometimes I overthink effect of what I say when I joke. Usually I avoid humor because of that or I question whether what I said might have hurt someone. Thanks for the interesting thoughts. You made my lunch time so much better.

I have somewhat dark humor but I'd say its strongly satirical and usually revolves around telling stories about recent events I've gone through.

The intimacy of humor is an interesting topic, I've never thought of it that way. My sense of humor is very freewheeling when it comes to other people's joking - many things make me laugh, but sarcasm, wordplay, and the verboten make me laugh the most. I've often said I'll go to hell because of what I laugh at. What I love best is my own humor when it comes as a surprise. I'll unwittingly blurt out something that catches the other person by surprise and then I laugh at their unexpected pleasure. Maybe the INFJ chameleon comes into play by feeding them what I subconsciously know they'll enjoy, maybe I'm just hilarious, but that surprised glee is priceless to me. Thanks for this, it made me smile :)

The same here...Irreverent without the intent of malice, but surprising to others. I have to be with friends who get it. That humor is just sitting in my head all the time, waiting for an opportunity to jump out.

Im an INFJ. My friend defines my laugh as a “sonar sound”. 😆 A lot of people perceive my humor as blunt and dark. I usually put out a feeler first to gauge people’s humor and then decide how much of my humor I will share. Sometimes my humor comes out quiet and in quips so it goes unnoticed. But, I like to “cold hands” my loved ones and then when they scream in horror I cover their mouth with my hand and tell them to, “Shh, Shh” with an amusing smile on my face. 😆 I think they love it 😊 In contrast, people also tell me I’m a really nice person. If they get cold hands by me... we are pretty close. You will know a lot about me by then.

I also laugh about things and topics I should not laugh about but I would say I don’t necessarily laugh AT it or with others about it. I’d typically scoff at the irony of things people are shocked at by making a sarcastic dark comment to emphasize the irony.

I don’t appreciate when people have inside jokes or rank on others for fun. I also don’t like “dumb” superficial humor based on vulgar language and obvious contradictions. It’s got to be clever and have some depth or insight to the joke... some novel perspective.

I think you’ll recognize an INFJ because at a comedy show they are the ones snickering between the punchlines at something they are imagining alongside hearing the set up of a joke. Then when everyone hears the punchline and start laughing they are not because it already passed them by.

Someone was right when they said we are funny when we are just being our honest selves but if we try to be funny it falls flat... and ouch, it’s awkward. That’s why I just stay pleasant and drop a bomb when no one is looking... whoever hears it and laughs, you’re my people.

Great video!

This is a very smooth way of saying INFJ have dark, satire, twisted humour

Ren, I think we have sarcastic humor and don't realize it, but others notice it, especially when we point out something that is truly distasteful or troublesome to us. As INFJs empaths, we are chameleons, but not always. Our authenticity coupled with true passion stuns people. We are not fake, but we are authentic and not always go along with the normal assumptions of 'us' or what society says is normal. I hope that make sense. I have been told that I was funny or hilarious, when being sarcastic or passionate about a person or thing, seriously and not malicious just a honest fact and people usually agree and laugh about it too.

I understand the “fake laugh” portion and how it may sound that way depending on how I’m adjusting to the situation. I am often mistaken as stuck up and prude during first meetings (when I’m not feeling well or am totally out of it) and I always felt self conscious about it. I guess it happens mainly when I’m unsure on how mature I should act around the new person(s)

I absolutely LOVE absurdity. The bigger the better. I had a boss, years ago, that would let you slide for showing up late if you could tell him a story that he had not heard before. Humor is a great smokescreen to hide behind.

It contains a very sarcastic overtone. I think some people take that the wrong way sometimes and take it as us judging them.

My humor is exactly the same. My girlfriend and my immediate family are really the only ones who've heard my actual humor. I find it adapts depending on who's around. It's mostly dialed down around people I'm not fully comfortable with. I'm extremely sarcastic and "bad" or "dirty" with my humor. Not in the sense of sexual or racist jokes, but they could easily offend some people.

Actually I surprise my girlfriend quite often with what I say (in a good way). Thank god she gets me.

I'm genuinely surprised and happy I'm not alone on this.
