How do you know when you're ready to start dating?

Why? Because dating costs money.

Uh no one is ever ready to start dating. Heck most of the things a person learns in life is through their own experience. Yes you can mentally prepare yourself for the next chapter as it were, but that will only get you so far. A lot of what you learn is through those epxeriences. Figure out your specs for the kind of person you want, and then go places where you are likely to find that person. If tou dont match with somebody, dont worry. You're learning. If you do and then at some point it doesnt work out. It will hurt but its only ever a problem if you dont learn from it.

Yes you need money but dont thi l you need to be carrying around a safe and a high stakes vault for your cash before you can start dating. A person might not really want you for your cash. I know of some seriously broek people who together made things work. And now they are far better off than if they remained alone

That is true. I've been there and for the guy I was a florero. Start dating and be smart and you don't need to be self sustaining to start dating and I loved it. If you are Young, Just be careful and date people that want you to be sel sustaining.

Oh, then I'll never date, which is fine, but I've never been financially secure. But I'd never let a man control me through money (I'm older too). Such is life.

Yesss and he will try to keep you in that mode. You could get a good job and he will sabotage it all on purpose.
