How to Make SPAGHETTI ALLA BOLOGNESE | The REAL Italian Recipe

The idea of "spaghetti bolognese" has become a bit of a joke in Italy, as the famous ragù is NEVER paired with spaghetti. There is, though, a real recipe from Bologna called "spaghetti alla bolognese." Don't expect ragù, though...

I feel like Italians purposefully gave the world fake recipes so they could know who the authentic Italians are and you guys are finally exposing what real Italians eat.
It’s like centuries of trolling the world. Respect.

Aha! Here in Portugal that's also a very famous dish but, everybody I know uses the olive oil from the tuna can to cook because it adds even more flavour (it's a pitty to discard such lovely infused olive oil)!

My Nonna used the same recipie, but also added a small amount of anchovies (4 to 5 fillets).

Wonderful to see this recipe again. We’d sometimes add capers to the sauce if they were around. Yes, this reminds me of college.

Yeah, back when I was at University we called this the "pasta dello studente"😂

This was one of the first pasta dishes I cooked all by myself ahah I remember being on summer holidays during elementary/middle and prepare it for my brothers, when they used to come home from work for lunch. I was very proud of my accomplishment 😂😂😂
In Italy we eat so well even when we eat "cheaply", it really opened my eyes to how lucky we are when I moved to England and saw what a lot of people eat lol

I grew up eating this pasta dish and still do to this daily, mainly on meatless Fridays during lent and also sometimes on Christmas Eve. We just always called it “Tuna spaghetti”. I had no idea that it was the official recipe for “Spaghetti Alla Bolognese”. It’s a quick, easy dish that is also delicious. I’ll have to make it next Friday since it’s been about a month that I last made this dish. Our variation is that we like to add red pepper flakes to give a little kick. Love it! 😉🙂👍🏻👏🏻

I just made this, and now i am a broken, and distracted man. This is DEVINE! I did switch it up a little though. I used butter instead olive oil to carmelize the onion, and i used fresh cherry tomatoes instead of canned whole ones. i also some chopped fresh basil instead of parsley, and broke the rules and put some american pamesean on top. 10/10 seriously make this dish it will absoloutely leavve its mark on you.

Says firmly: "I'm gonna add some more pasta water"
Looks to right to get confirmation. 🤣

I can't believe that without even realising it i was making a traditional Italian recipe. I don't know how i even started making this in the first place. Perhaps it's the "una faccia una razza" thing (I'm greek and i love Italy). I always make this when i don't have much to cook at home and i always called this "μακαρόνια με σάλτσα και τόνο = pasta with sauce and tuna". I use tuna "rio mare" (really popular brand in greece) and make it the exact same way but i add more garlic because tuna and garlic go really well together.

I'm Italian and I honestly didn't know this was called spaghetti alla Bolognese! Personally I add some anchovies to my soffritto and sometimes I add a little tomato puree to get a thicker sauce. You guys are amazing!

Spettacolo!

Wow! I remember this dish. I haven't eaten this in decades. My mother used to make this and yes, with tuna! I was kind of taken aback when I saw the tuna but seeing the dish put together it totally jogged my memory. I don't know why I forgot about it because I remember liking it as a kid.

Many years ago on one of my first visits to my brother in Germany, his (German, not Italian) wife’s cousin invited us over for impromptu dinner. She made spaghetti for us with tuna instead of meat. I had never heard of such a thing and was surprised at how good it was. Now I see it is a real Italian dish with a name! ☺️

I have a very multiethnic family, coming from three continents. Spaghetti al Tonno (garlic, not onion) is basically the favourite dish of _everyone, _ from Belgians to Indians, from 3yo kids to grandmas.
