In this video, Dr. Berg talks about dried fruit and it is the worst, unhealthy food. Many people consume it as a snack but without realizing the concentrated sugar, the added sugars, the added preservatives (sulfites), and the problem with only consuming small amounts. This will completely keep you out of ketosis, so avoid it.

I'm eating 4 dried dates while watching this & I believe they are a healthier choice containing fibre & other nutrients, compared with the nutrition of the bar of chocolate I would normally consume, I'm sticking to the dates 😉

Anything consumed in incorrect quantities tends to be unhealthy. Dried fruit is NOT a "convenience food".
I dehydrate bananas to prevent them from ripening excessively and keep them for extended periods of time. Same with apples. If you know how many chips equal one fruit - then there is no problem whatsoever. And yes, anything store bought and processed is a gamble in itself.
This video generalizes. And that is just as bad as no information at all.

It's frustrating trying to eat healthy cause so many things you think are healthy or healthy alternatives aren't

I eat 2 or 3 dates daily and they are organic with no added sugar or preservatives. Because I’m avoiding all other sugar and most fruits, I really find these 2-3 dates on a daily basis really helps normalise my blood sugar after a long fast.

Dried fruits are healthy if they have nothing added to them and you don't over-eat them. There's absolutely nothing wrong with eating one fruit worth of dried fruit as a snack or as part of a meal.

I buy dried prunes and apricots with no added preservatives or sugar, and both of those have high potassium, which is something a large portion of humanity is short of.

Sometimes you don't need healthy food when training or competing in swim meets, but dried fruit is excellent for carbohydrates‼️

I think this depends on the product. Read the ingredient list. If they didn’t add sugar to it then it should be a healthy snack.

So basically, if you enjoy it. It is bad?

I eat prunes in small servings so the GL of my servings never go over 5. That's the same GL as berries. Prunes keep me regular so i'll continue to enjoy them

What about unsweetened?
You can get dried fruit that isn't sweetened (sugar added).

The dried cranberries in my cupboard have added sugar but if you dry fruit yourself you do not need to add sugar. We were traveling last week and I ate some homemade dried persimmons. I think it was a good snack choice.

Automatic thumbs down 👎
1. You automatically lost all credibility by saying “dried fruit is the worst snack”
2. There are A TON of dried fruit options out there that do not contain added sugars or preservatives.

This information is very misleading.

I was interested in hearing about dried foods without anything added on them, dates, raisins, apricots, figs... These are considered healthy! I guess thei're not keto friendly because they contain sugar, but what if you are not interested in weightloos?

Question .. is it the same if your dry your own fruit at home?

If you compare one dried thing by weight to a non dried thing by weight the dried thing is more concentrated? Wow what a revelation! I would have never guessed that 1 raisin would have the same amount of sugar as a non dried grape! I'm off to eat several stock cubes to meet my daily caloric intake now thanks.

Of course you should not eat cups full of dried fruit, put natural dried figs in olive oil and eat when craving trashfood like sweets ice cream etc., the craving will go away.
