Don’t Look Up is trying to remind us that we already have everything – we’ve been born on a planet that’s truly paradise, full of gifts far more priceless than anything money can buy. Ultimately, it investigates whether we can snap out of our current failure to stave off total climate catastrophe.

15:47 "The truth is way more depressing. They're not even smart enough to be as evil as you're giving them credit for."
My sentiments exactly.

What I appreciate most about this film is that in an interview when Leo was asked “what should everyday people do?”
He answered without hesitation that 1 private jet causes more harm than the cars of 450, 000 everyday people…so right now everyday people don’t need to do anything more than vote for bills that stop rich people from killing us.

This is actually one of my fav movie relating to Earth ending. Comedic but deeply insightful at the same time.

It’s so satisfying seeing the owner of Bash realize his technology fails and he immediately leaves humanity to die, then realizes he’s trapped on an alien world filled with monsters.

The most disturbing fact of this movie is that it represents the reality we live in right now.

This film was my first step into the horror genre. I'm a grown man and I had nightmares about this movie for days after I saw it.

As a Brazilian I must say that since the pandemic outbreak I'm living in total fear because our president is a totally stupid sociopath! This movie hit hard!

I really did love how there was a bonded respect for true religiosity and advocacy for true science. I think that beautiful last line, the glimpses of people and wildlife and horticulture commingling, particularly the indigenous dance in the trees, were beautiful examples of how gratitude for the earth's bounty makes us the most human we've ever been. Leave no trace but also don't take what you don't give back and give more than you've left behind.🌳

The analogy with comet is more on point than at first glance. The comet was heading towards Earth long before discovered, just like climate change was issue prior to last 30 years. The sad part once we see comet (climate change) it's almost to late to do anything (especially without the will to do so).

Oh, boy. I worked as an intern for four years at a medium level goverment organization and I can confirm how true it is. When I was there, problems derived from misscomunication, recklessness and stupidity happened very often. The usual response when problems were adverted was "don't worry. We'll come up with something".

My parent used to believe in many almost conspiracy teories and he was always mumbling "oh, they are doing this now because in three years there will be this election..." and so on. And I tent to roll my eyes. Well, let me tell you that they don't even know what they will be doing tomorrow.

I'm Brazilian, and yes, the movie is full of especially relatable moments.

Can we just talk about the meta-ness of Chris Evans character "not taking a side" where he in real life has a website that aims to put up quotes, platforms, and facts in a non-partisan way and how Meryl Streep played Trump at the public in a way that was politicized. Also Ariana playing a part that ballooned/contextualized one of facets of her perceived public persona in such a smart and poignant way. 'Twas gold I tell you.

Being a Brazilian, it's tough to see my country in this video. So true, and how we reacted to this movie around here was very particular. It touched us deeper, I suppose..

the whole message of the film is that if a thing like that would happen, this would be the reaction of the people, who initially don't believe in it and make fun of the situation and the reaction of the government, which would only think about how to make a profit from it and how to save the lives of most rich people

it's not about the world ending, its about people not accepting that the world was ending

This is way more in depth than Wisecrack’s glib interpretation of the film. Thank you for that.

I think often about how the earth was healing a bit during first lock down because we weren't as active in industry or driving as many cars. I know Tomorrow War has a form of this but it'd be interesting to see a movie regarding climate change where the threat is already here and is intrinsically tied to human activity very directly and corollary.
