Data suggests that southern Indian states continue to outperform the rest of the country whether its in health, education or economic opportunities but northern region still continue to dominate the politics of the country.

Data scientist Nilakantan RS in his superbly argued book explains how and why the southern states are outperforming the rest of the country and its consequences in an increasingly centralized India.

I am from Delhi. For the past 4 years, I have been working in Chennai. These 4 years I have learned a lot about life and people. Tamil people are collectively sweet and kind to even strangers. Initially I had the ego driving me acting like as a North Indian, I'm superior to the Tamil people and did not care about anything. But the karma played it's drama in my life. My mom was diagnosed with cancer and our family decided to treat her in Chennai. It was one of the popular cancer institute in the country. In the 20+ months of journey, so many Tamil people helped my family and supported us a lot. That too, mostly strangers. My relatives and friends in Delhi, they did not even care about my mom's life. I am so grateful to this Tamil people as without them, my family would be in so much turmoil and we would have lost my mom.

Now my mom is doing well and I am married to a Tamil girl. Also learning Tamil language and my mom already mastered the language. vaazhga Tamil Valarga Tamil people

Comparatively south states are more liberal, educated, cultured, less discriminating against the women.

The growth of Tamil Nadu is because 1.. Education 2. Women's education 3. Proficiency in English 4. Industrial zones in each district 5. Incentives for women and education 6. Public distribution system 7. Public health system in every village 8. Proper roads 9. Proper electricity 10. Social justice . It will take another 50 years for North India to achieve this if they keep voting for Mandir.

I am from Bangalore. I recently visited 2 north states & to my surprise and depressing thing I encounter is sick casteism still exists and certainly takes front seat than anything else in Northern states.

South people identify themselves by their language and territory. Other things are very secondary to them. They don't like others imposing their cultures and languages on them just because they have numbers. Bluntly speaking, they feel learning Hindi is waste of time and money. If people are not comfortable with that, so be it.

If only South had dominated India, today India would have been competing China and Europe. But it's unfortunate the south never had the majority which is the most important thing in democracy..so the fate of India fell into the hands of underdeveloped states like UP.

Midday meal in TN schools was started much before MGR, by the great leader Kamaraj in the sixties itself. MGR made it more nutritious.
But Periyar is the actual reason behind women education in TN.

Tamilnadu and other states performed well because of inclusive growth irrespective of caste. Tamilnadu reservation policy in every aspect has given the growth .
