Every year, thousands of snakes gather at the Narcisse Snake Dens in Manitoba, Canada. It's billed as the largest gathering of snakes anywhere in the world. Manitoba's climate and geology make it the perfect place for red-sided garter snakes to live and mate. It has become a tourist attraction, but it's not for the faint of heart.

I've always loved all the animals that usually scare other people, snakes, spiders, bats, sharks, rats.. loved them all since I was a kid.  On a cruel twist of fate though, it's _butterflies and moths_ the ones that terrify me.

I don't find adults having a fear of snakes in general "odd."  A childs perspective is naive.  They feel that an adult wouldn't place them in any circumstance that could cause them harm.  As an adult, I've learned that you are never in control of something that is wild.  You may think you are in certain situations but you truly never are.  Steve Irwin was a brilliant individual who had immense respect for mother nature and all her life forms.  However unfortunately his death is the perfect example of how a situation you think you are in control of can go awry.  RIP Steve.  (BTW "The garter snakes don't have teeth" whaaaa?)

Suffered from snake phobia for years. Finally doing something about it. Watching this video is a good exposure therapy. First time I watched this video, I called my parents to say goodbye because I thought I almost died. silly me. It's irrational. But with repetitive exposure therapy the fight-or-flight response can be manageable. I hate snakes and I will not let these creatures ruin my life.

Garter snakes can bite, I have been bitten before, but even if they do their teeth are so small it's almost like a scratch then a bite. Except those big 3-foot long suckers, they can draw blood, but garter snakes that big are really rare.

For those who don’t know what kind of snakes they are there called garter snakes. The kids said that they don’t have teeth and they don’t bite. They have teeth and I’ve got bitten many times by garter snakes although most of them don’t bite.
