Nobody who doesn't know what Dave Ramsey looks like brings up Dave Ramsey in every day conversation.

Considering he said "electronics store" tells this was way before the social media Era. He probably knew Dave through listening on the radio.

Regardless of whether this is real, people forget this show used to only be a RADIO show. Unless you bought his book, you likely didn't know what he looked like.

Side note, always research the product when contemplating the warranty. There are times when a $25 warranty on a $400 product is well worth it.

Only extended warranty ive ever bought was $50 on a $800 vacuum for 8 years. Already saved me 150 on a new powerhead when the leds stopped working

One thing I learnt working at best buy. Don't ever push extended warranty on a 50+ Male.

This story is probably back during the time that this show was on the radio instead of YouTube, people forget that Dave has been doing this for over 30 years.

I worked at Radio Shack for a year. In ~2014, a VP sent out an email that said "warranties are the life blood of the retail business"...RIP Radio Shack.

Dave Ramsey is the pinnacle of. I grew up in a booming economy, and don’t understand how to live through a struggling one.

"Do you want our warranty? It's only $25"

Here in New Zealand we have the customers guarantees act which is customer protection, no need to buy extended warranties. I worked at Samsung in service department, we often supplied replacement fridges for free, even if customer had it for more than 5 years

I just love it when people get caught out lying.

I never buy the extended warranty. I always tell them if they truly believe in their product they'd give away the warranty as a sales booster.

These people in the comments forget that this man has been around for a long time. He's had his own radio show since '94 and started radio in '92. It wasn't until '07 that people saw him on TV.

Many years ago, I was at Sears, buying a Craftsman tool. They asked me if I wanted to buy the warranty. I asked them why they thought their product was so bad that I needed a warranty.

Yup! I bought Bose headphones at BBY for 400 with $80 2 year warranty. I just go upgrade them right before the two year mark. I rebuy the warranty for another 2 years on the new ones and continue the cycle. Worth it to me.

I’ve only had one warranty that was needed and used often. It was a subwoofer. That model sub would often blow. It was like a 5 year warranty and I replaced it at least 5 times. I knew what I was doing beforehand though.

When I'm offered the extended warranty for an item, I always ask "Will you deduct the cost of the warranty from the price of the item?". I have been surprised at the number of times the sales person has agreed to do it. Sales staff earn a commission on each extended warranty they sell (or their managers pressure them to sell a quota of warranties), so they are usually motivated to do whatever they can to sell you one. If they can adjust the retail price of the item, they usually will do it.
