My husband is partners in a furniture store that already had a finance company set up when he became a partner. When the guy that was the founding partner left, he started doing free layaway and worked on convincing his customers to be patient and buy on layaway, instead of working the expensive interest option. He said many people took the free layaway deal and thanked him, but he still had people financing furniture - even though he told them how financing would be long and expensive.
We've become too comfortable with being an "instant gratification" society, instead of learning patience from grandparents and great-grandparents.

I've been there. I lived in a horrible neighborhood in Fort Worth in 2006. I remember paying off a payday loan, and having someone ask me if I'd do it again. I told them I hope to never see these people again. She didn't understand my response.

I now own my home, no mortgage, no car payments, no debt at all. Money in the bank and peace in my life. It's strange to look back sometimes. I'm grateful.

I admire Mr. Ramsey for advocating the consumer and companies to do the right thing. Most media figures treat it like a one way street.

My favorite is when someone who doesn't even travel much pays a $550 annual fee just to have an American Express platinum card, because it's silver, made of metal, and makes a clinking sound when you drop it on the give me a break

Hey left off Title Max Loans, Reverse Mortgage Loans, and Refinancing Home Loans. But yes all those other loans are rip offs. I'm now on Step#2 and am snowballing my $4, 650 of credit card debt.

I leased my 2017 Hyundai Elantra back in November 2016. I plan on keeping it though and paying cash for the residual, not gonna just trade it in for another lease.

You can’t pay cash to buy a house if you live in Orange County or LA, CA. The average house price is over 500k.
