I really miss Mr. Always Hilarious in Every Single Skit He Ever Did Especially The Colon Blow Commercial Guy.

That was a hilarious skit. And he kept a straight face. I miss him. RIP Phil Hartman.

As a former Marine Drill Instructor, I have to say super props for nailing that salute wearing a campaign cover (smokey the bear hat). It's not easy to touch the bill, you have to practice in the mirror.

Watched this as it aired in 1988, and started quoting it with all my friends in high school the next day.
Phil Hartman was a comedy god. ❤

In my opinion, Phil Hartman is the greatest Saturday Night Live cast member of all time!

“Hair head!” used to crack me up as a kid.

the genius of Phil was he could take any role/sketch, and just by his performance alone, make it funny..this was, at best, a mediocre sketch..but it works cus of him.Still THE greatest SNL performer of all time....

Rest In Peace Phil Hartman.
True comic genius taken way too soon. Mathew Modine indicates this was soon after Full Metal Jacket😎😎👍🏻

Absolute genius! Such a sad and tragic loss. How they kept it together with that going on before them is beyond me.

Jon Lovitz was something else back in the days.

I had a Philippine company commander that was just like this guy. He said all kinds of things but we were scratching our heads saying “ what is this guy talking about.” He would say “ if you get your recruit pencil and your recruit notebook and then you put your recruit notebook back…” in the end we would ask our selves “what the heck is he trying to tells us.” He would also make us do exercises that were so easy it was like a vacation from the real company commander that scared us to death.

I remember this episode when it first aired. I loved Phil, he always made me laugh. I was so saddened when I found out he was killed by his wife.

I have been looking for this skit for YEARS. I loved this when I first saw it. One that my dad and I have quoted many times over the years.

Mr. Smilin', laughin', jokin' around man!

Gen Z needs to know Phil Hartman. ♡
Edit: Nealon, Carvey, Miller, and Lovitz were all perfect here, with Modine giving great support.
