While it may not feel normal in any way, shape or form, Menopause is a NORMAL condition that all women will experience in their lifetime, typically somewhere between the ages of 45 & 55. You may have heard to it as “the change” and yes, your body will be going through many changes, and at times these changes can pack a pretty big punch, making you feel like your body is a total stranger and that nothing you do seems to have any positive impact in helping you to feel better or at the very least, like you have a handle on what the heck is happening. Rest assured, you are not crazy, you are not alone and there are things that you can do that can help you navigate this transition without ripping all your hair out.

When we look at lifestyle and then bring menopause into the picture, there are some common symptoms that can help to know for sure that not only are you entering MENOPAUSE, but what changes you may need to PREPARE FOR and begin making some lifestyle changes to support a better menopause experience.

I'm not saying you can, nor will you, eliminate menopause or the symptoms you may be experiencing. However, by recognizing these 6 MOST COMMON SYMPTOMS, understanding how they are affecting you AND making some solid lifestyle changes, you may find that your symptoms become less intense and maybe even less frequent over time

So what are these 6 MOST COMMON SYMPTOMS OF MENOPAUSE? First let me say that there are MANY symptoms of menopause, these just happen to be the 6 MOST COMMON that seem to cause the most distress and challenges for women going through menopause.

1. Changes in your menstrual cycle
2. Weight gain
3. Hot flashes
4. Night sweats
5. Lower libido
6. Depression/ severe mood swings

So what can you do? Well, body awareness is key to really being able to step back and say "ok ... things have changed and here is what I notice happening with me?" When you are able to identify your symptoms you will be better able to also determine if there are certain triggers that intensify them or exacerbate them in any way.

With this awareness and knowledge, you can start to make some lifestyle changes that can have a more positive influence as far as decreasing intensity and/ or frequency of your symptoms. If however, you are finding that your symptoms are just too intense or causing you so much distress that it is interferring dramatically with your life, please SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP from you doctor.

Menopause symptoms can vary from mild to moderate to extreme and the duration can vary for the rest of your life. Symptom fluctuations or persistent symptoms can be debilitating for many women leading to antidepressants struggling to cope. Fluctuating hormones are horrible, our body betrays us, it misfires, it overheats while sleeping or during the day, loss of sexual attraction or desire, our sweet juicy succulent peach turns into a dried apricot, our memory shorts, we get confused, disoriented, drastic mood swings, unexplainable mood swings are confusing, difficulty finding the right words, feeling shame/guilt for not being able to get thru the day, not being able to function optimally or reaching for a glass of wine to cope, escape, to sleep or just take the edge off. Hormonal havoc is horrible when we're oblivious to what's happening, many women feel like their losing their marbles which is terrifying.

What really surprises me is how much I have lost my libido. I was a very sexual person before. Now, I can look at erotic scenes, read or hear of them and feel absolutely nothing. No arousal whatsoever. It's scary. Plus the hot flashes and night sweats are the worst for me too.🥵😰😫
