Best Rustic Italian Tomato Sauce You Will Find!
Ok, there’s no more excuse to buy this sauce. Make this sauce yourself, it really doesn’t take long (aside from cooking time and love). The difference to the bought one, is immeasurably tastier than the best supermarket sauces, if there’s such a thing!

You can cook it 10 minutes up to 3 hours, the longer the cooking process, the better, but the 10 minute version will still be superior to bought. Make a large batch freeze some ready for use.

Marinara sauce is of course an Italian sauce that originated in Naples. It can be used on so many dishes from pasta (of course), to seafood, pizza, meat, meatballs, poultry, beans, polenta, eggplant parmigiana, chicken parmigiana, mushroom parmigiana, you get the idea!

I used San Marzano canned tomatoes from Trader Joe’s and simmered this for almost 2 hours. Absolutely delicious and so sweet!

I’m usually iffy on these types of recipe videos because they tend to leave out important details or just not work, and they’re usually super fluffed up for the camera… but I gotta hand it to you man, I went by these instructions and the only thing I did different was add a tablespoon or so of sugar to taste at the end, and other than that it was spot on. Easy to make and tastes way better than store bought sauce. Solid recipe, nice work!

Just stumbled upon your channel looking for a marinara recipe... and I have to say, I have never seen such a gorgeously filmed recipe channel in my life. The angles, cuts, the focus and detail on the ingredients, the buttery blurred depth of field bokeh of the background and the chill, soothing music... just gorgeously produced. Joel, just made this last week and it was great on the night, but man did it marinate well over the next 3 days. I used San Marzano tomatoes and it's the best ever and the simplest I've ever made!! Cheers from Preston 👍

Been making this for decades.

Always use Italian imported tomatoes and tomato paste with my onions after they clear and cook a few minutes then add garlic, then cook another minute then add tomatoes. And always a tsp of sugar for acid balance.

Great recipe, Joel. I make it and freeze it in portions in zip lock bags. Fits nicely in the freezer.

Another great recipe! The best part is that the sauce can be frozen and we can have it more than one way. I love it that you can add eggplant, meatballs etc. Adding some seafood and white wine, perhaps a few drops of lemon juice, and you can have something similar to a seafood stew 🤤 Thank you, Chef!👍
