You made two great points. It's important to take people at their word when they identify as Christians. Also, don't be quick to assume that your interlocutor is lying. (Aron needed to hear that). I was a Christian for 60 years before I became an atheist. I'm the only atheist in my family, & my friends mostly ignore me. I've been told I was never really a Christian. I know how strongly my family believes in their dogma. They aren't liars. Again, thanks for promoting the spirit of charity in discussions.
