Pray this storm system speeds up and doesn’t have time to intensify before it hits so it weakens even more!! God bless all!!

This is already 80 mph when they forecasted 60. This could easily be a CAT 4 - time to leave is Monday.

Is it my lack of knowledge, or is it common to have weather stations predict a cat 1 hurricane or so, only to come back on it after 'rapid intensification' later on? It happens so often I question their prediction methodologies. Of course you always have to account for variables such as wind sheer, but when a storm is forecasted to move over a big pile of very warm water you should account for the possibility of rapid strengthening of the storm system. Again, i'm nowhere close being an expert, just my thoughts on it.

UPDATE August 30th: surprise surprise, it's now projected to be a cat 4 hurricane when making landfall.

When DeSantis finds out this tropical storm Idalia doesn’t have a passport he won’t allow it into the state.

Same story like last year. They said Cat 2 and then Ian was near Cat 5. This will be similar with this one. Cat 4 for sure or even 5. The Golf of Mexico waters is 90 degrees. What the heck are those forecasters thinking? If this new storm hits Sanibel Island again please don't rebuild and make this barrier island a nature preserve.
