Best Rogue Fitness Rack For Most People

In one of my most popular videos, Budget Rogue Home Gym, I listed the Rogue SML-2C as the rack to get, however I don't think this is the best rack Rogue offers for most people. In this video I cover a rack that hits on the things that are most important to people: cost, versatility, quality, and footprint!

I know why I watch these videos, I don’t need any equipment, to be honest I can’t afford it but this guy is super cool to listen to and makes weight lifting so much more enjoyable

Have had my R 3 for nearly a year - added in the neutral grip chin bar - many options available and very safe as you point out - it’s fantastic

If your J cups don’t have protective plastic to guard barbells, then no big deal. I use the NY Barbells Sumo Rack and lined all 4 metal-only cups with rubber grip stair tread. It has heavy duty adhesive and has yet to peel. Just clean with rubbing alcohol first and then adhere. Works great, protects my bars and is CHEAP.

I train in a tiny space and got an R-3. Perfect for my small garage gym.

It's a great rack. I had it. Only issue I found was that it lacked refinement and some versatility. The main issue i had was that even with the 30 inch depth you cant really train with 2 people on it. You both need to be doing the same exercise. Over time i wanted the finer things the monster line offers and the full rack.

We do not have access to "Monster" brand products in AU. I think our equivalent is the RML-390BT which comes in 24" and 30" depth, just not sure if that is the inner squat depth or if that includes 6" for the posts. How realistic is it to use this for plate storage? I can imagine a loaded barbell would interfere with the weights, so if you want all in one you'd want a deeper model or by separate for storage. Having never squatted in a rack, it feels like even 30" will feel small. I also wonder how easy it would be getting a 2.2 meter barbell into such a narrow cage, thinking the half rack (mounted to a wall or floor) with spotter arms would be the better option for small spaces.

I bought an RML-6 in blue just like you for my first heavy duty garage gym rack, but when I expanded into a full gym and needed more racks I bought R-3's (connected with 70" pull up bars like Coop's). The R-3's get significantly more use.

What are your thoughts or other people thoughts on the RML-390F FLAT FOOT option from Rogue. For a little bit more than 100$ Canadian this was the option I selected 4 years ago and still to this day I wouldn't change a thing since no need to bolt it to the ground and you got about 6" more within the cage 24" vs 30". Dont know why this option is not more popular since seeing this rack in home gym is still rare.

Do you prefer the cable set up you have on your rack? Or would you prefer a separate cable system? Space not being a big issue

Does it have enough room to squat inside the squat rack comfortably? I don't have a huge walk out, but I do take a step back, and I was concerned about depth.

Any experience with the Rogue RML-90SLIM Rack? I’m trying to find the best space efficient option, it’s one I haven’t seen anyone review. Obviously you have to use spotter arms given it’s not a full rack. I was wondering if this is more stable than their folding option.

Since I think I'm the same height at you (6 foot 3) do you think theres enough space to sumo deadlift inside of the r-3 without issues? It looks a bit cramped on the picture but it could just be the angle. Thanks!
Edit: actually, since theres band pins on either side i d presume there should be enough room?

Brandon, what's the difference / pros and cons of the R-3 and R-3 BT?

Can you review the Rogue combo rack please?

Bells of steel has some awesome racks too for a good price.

Only downside, I believe, is that you have to bolt the rack down.

I know nubies today believe they need top notch equipment from the start, you don't. And no it's not an investment, most people quit. A typical fitness center only has 10-20% of their members actually show up (been a trainer for 17 years). Small percentage of of those lift any real weight. Rogue equipment is not necessary for anyone training less than 5 years or so. Get any bench and pillars and see if you stick with it.

Do you think 24 inches is enough depth to Squat, bench and row?

According to a Rogue rep,
the Infinity series will be discontinued.

I have the R-3. Love it and the Infinity accessories. I had contacted Rogue late last year about whether they would be making an Infinity version of the Squat Handles and that was part of their response saying that they were not at this time and it's possible that they may not be able to. Sad to see this value going away!
