My coming out as a lesbian had nothing to do with rage or explosion. I came out 50 years ago because I was admitting my attraction to women.

Furthermore, coming out let me acknowledge the love, compassion and tenderness I longed to express to other women. This was, and is MY truth. Sheila has referred to women who are attracted to other women as “gold star lesbians” with sarcastic gusto. I am apparently still wrong…for being a lesbian simply because I feel an actual attraction to women instead of becoming a lesbian for political reasons. I’d like to see other lesbians acknowledge this too. Sheila refers to this attraction as one that certain of us (like me) are claiming to be ‘biological’. I don’t refer to feelings as biological. You can’t isolate them and stick them in a test tube. Feelings don’t work like that, but thanks anyway.

i don’t think seeing men as inherently violent is necessarily bad. women can spend more time on each other and supporting each other instead of trying to change men. if women think it’s socialized completely, there’s more a chance they won’t adopt separatism and will just continue to work with/partner with men instead. also it’s a good idea for women to learn self defense or carry a self defense weapon because men target us because they think we’re easy targets. if more women retaliated or put up a fight, they would think twice before attacking another woman. i’m also ok with a woman having a weapon at home (i’m an american, so it’s allowed) as long as she doesn’t live with any men that could use it against her
