Alec Baldwin questioned by police after tragic 'Rust' shooting incident

ACTOR Alec Baldwin was shown being questioned by police in a bodycam footage released on Monday (April 25) following the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the movie "Rust" in New Mexico in October.

Baldwin could be seen answering questions about how firearms were handled on set and whether anyone could have deliberately meddled with rounds loaded into the actor's prop gun.

"The thing that... is going to answer all of your questions is: what's in (Rust director) Joel's (Souza) shoulder. Is it a rock or is it a bullet?" Baldwin said to officers in a dramatic scene from his police statement.

Police at the Santa Fe County Sherriff's Department then said they could show the actor an image of the projectile removed from Souza's shoulder.

"That's a bullet," Baldwin told officers in disbelief. "If that's a bullet that was pulled out his shoulder, then someone loaded a live round into the gun I was holding," the actor added, looking visibly shocked.

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, was killed when the revolver Baldwin was holding fired a live round that struck her in the chest and lodged in the shoulder of film director Joel Souza, who survived the gunshot wound.

Baldwin was a producer on this film and had oversight of crew, safety, budget. There were many failures on this set that led to the unsafe situation of the weapon store and process. AB has responsibilities for some of those failures. The armourer was not even onset at the time of the shooting which is very likely a breach of protocol by the producers also. It is incorrect to say this was a simple accident that was not ABs fault at all....

People react differently in times of tragedy. But if I somehow had to go with my gut feeling, I would arrest him on the spot for premeditated murder, based on his stereotypical "I'm doing the detecting myself to help youse guys, calm and collected" trope

somebody on that set made a serious omission..deliberately or undeliberately. and sorry but this armorer Hannah 2:05 doesn't look like the type of person you'd give such an important job to, for which Alec Baldwin obviously didn't feel the need to be precautious about. so much unprofessionalism on this set that cost the life of a person.

He just took someone's life because of his inability to check a gun himself like everyone does.

First of all - what a shxt show of a production situation that obviously was in every sense of the word. Secondly - the Armourer Hannah needs to find herself another job, that's for sure.
Thirdly, last and not the least - I can't stand listening to Baldwin already referring to the just deceased woman ask "her", not having any true emotions about her horrendous passing due to his handling of the gun, only focusing on himself and how to stay clear of trouble. No guilt, no remorse, all we see is "me, myself and I".
