FIMI X8 MINI - Don't buy it......YET!

As I said in the video.... you can crop out the vignette effect that is present in every video out there.
The channel “alishanmao” has already done this in review #1 which is very clear to see when you look at how the video is zoomed in at high altitude.
He’s not one to do a review and not sell you on it if you know what I mean.
Idaho? He was super stoked by this quad even though he had everything I mentioned in his flight videos. He dropped his and broke it then started saying exactly what I’m saying here in this video and praising went back to his DJI mini 2.
Let’s be serious if you are going to mention others reviews because neither can be taken as a honest unbiased reviewer.

I totally agree with you on your assessments. I've seen the very same to from other reviews. I was the lucky few that didn't have the horizon tilt on the x8 2018. The only gripe I had is it was so unstable. But I sold it to get the mavic mini though I should have held out for mini 2 which I have a well. I am excited to see what what hubsan has to offer but with reservation.

Well I guess I do owe you a favor.😆 We'll work out the details once I receive the Fimi within a week or so. But I've seen a lot of the same reviews and just can't get pass the vignetting. That will be an issue for me regardless if I can crop it out. The camera and its ability to fly straight is primary for me and all the other gimmicky stuff is secondary. Great assessment brother. Yeah it's about time that somebody has brought this forward. These are the same issues I continue to see with Fimis and the Fimi mini. There is no way I would purchase this unit when you can get a refurbed parrot anafi for maybe a little bit more and have a totally, totally way better bird. People are now hitting me up and asking me why do I keep saying this about this mini. It's because it's true, the parrot anafi is just a better deal.

I’m so glad you pointed this out Chris... I had a chat with an insider at Fimi and they told me that the pro battery version will not be in production until June/July. AND the current standard versions that are being sold right now are in, quote: “trial production.” So basically everyone who has bought one and received theirs are testers for Fimi (at their own expense.) This is very bad business ethics and they should have let people know that the current units in circulation are still in test phase.

I had one on pre-order but now I’m thinking of pulling out and either waiting for the pro version or the Hubsan Zino Mini Pro.

Holy shit Chris, with this one we’re on the same page. Needing a different battery than they’re putting in the drone now seems quite suspicious. Are they unable to make it work? Why wait? And of course there is the Fimi horizon issues. This drone will have to come in substantially lower than the Mini 2 for me to have interest.

My FIMI X8 SE developed a gimbal judder. Sold it because of this. Now i have Mavic Mini. Very low urban range, but at least it works. Not very confident to buy another FIMI drone

Another key word : Fimi have never been able to improve the performance of their drones over time, so "yet"="never" !

After all the troubles I went through with my Zino 2, I will never waste my money on either fimi or Hubsan. I pre-ordered a zino 2 when it was announced. Received it, and on fist day the remote's charging port broke off. 8 month later I received another remote that I had to pay for because Hubsan said their devices are free from defects and that is because they did not offered me a warranty. Right after I flew the drone again, began to give me troubles with an update prompt that never completes, tried connecting drone to Pc and micro usb port broke off in drone and went into body of drone. I would rather pay $50 tp $100 less for a DJI mini 1 or mini 2.
Is there someone available that does soldering for re-installing a charging port?

Thanks for the video and early warning. I have both Fimi X8 se 2018 and 2020 and I am one of the early adopters of Fimi X8 se 2020.I had never seen tilted horizon on Fimi X8 se 2018 but it is worse on Fimi x8 se 2020. I had to ship Fimi x8 se 2020 to Fimi support china in the month Feb 2021 and I just heard from Fimi support that drone was repaired and on it's way back. I would think twice before buying any drone that doesn't has support here in US.

the drone is rubish nowhere close to DJI build and support you won't be able to fly this until the battery has been replaced then how much will the battery cost not worth the hassle

The Standard lithium inclusion and not the "PRO battery" LiPO concerned me also! This has held me up from buying it as well! Even after seeing the in flight demo videos, I would still spend an additional $75 to $100 on the proven DJI Mini 2!

I am so glad you brought up the slanting horizon as well. That completely bothered me also after watching other videos!

Thank you Chirs for your honesty and the great information and advice. I haven't bought any new drone's yet because I don't have the exact too spend. Some day if I do I might get the air2s or a sub 250 drone
