Fimi X8 Mini - Introduction Part 3 - The Insanity

This is the result of 5 hours of disconnects, power up failures, firmware glitches, cable issues & SD card errors (to name a few)
Not a motor has yet spun. I know this is all related to the App and software programming but honestly... It's beyond irritating.
At least I figured out (I think) a 100% sure fire way to boot up into the App without issues and also learned a few tricks. I have a feeling that if you loose connectivity in flight the App wont fire back up when in range, you will have to either unplug the phone and plug it back in or turn off the controller and start it again... or both.
The X8 Mini is very similar to the X8SE in that the SD card reader issue remains, as do several other camera issues expressed by many others (of which I have yet to experience.).
I hope to get it in the air tomorrow... but be warned... the climb is getting pretty steep!

Few items to be aware of:
- Ensure the SWITCH at the back of the drone is set to RC (make sure it is securely in place).
- Ensure your phone input is not dirty, rusted or damaged as you'll receive no signal.
- Do not plug in your phone or open the app until all lights are solid on the controller
- Use a Fast name brand Micro SD Card at U3
- Android phones are all over the map since none are the same. iPhones are more solid with no hardware glitches.
- Finally, FIMI and HUBSAN always launch products that have continuous firmware updates over the next six months. These Firmware updates add new features as well as enhance features and add fixes for Android users.

I've been flying R/C planes, drones, boats, helicopters and cars for years (I'm 65). One thing I was taught was to always power up the radio first and then the vec. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people not follow this rule and paid the price. Stay safe man.

I'm sorry for all you had to go through to get this drone updated and connected properly. But I was taking notes to help me out when mine finally arrives. So thanks for posting this detailed video, it will help many people out.

Boot up sequence is paramount. Wait for the Green Flashing light on the drone before connecting the phone (see end of video). Format a U3 card in the computer & then in the drone. Supplied cables work but finding a longer one might be an issue. I have 3 on order - results to come. 2 more things... The Fimi Navi App is Orientation specific (connector plug has to come out the right side) or the App will appear upside down. And... The RC beeps every 5 seconds when low. If RC battery is low (2 lights) the Drone will not pair up.**

Controller on
Drone on - wait til yellow light flashing
Long press power button on drone and light should go out and now in pairing mode
Long press controller power button for pairing mode

After a few seconds they should be paired.

PS. Also make sure switch in back is not set to wifi

So the sequence needs to be: Turn drone on, turn RC on, wait for light on drone to turn green, Light on Controller turns solid, then connect phone and then connect to RC.

hahahaha, You are having similar issues as I am having. yes, I have tried 3 or 4 times. lol. I'm taking a break now. frustrating.

You need to get a better computer and a newer phone. Thus eliminating all the headaches.

Update Edit: I seen a few other videos where people having problems connecting.

you are not good ... I never had a drone before this one, and in 5 min I was flying quiet without the updates and without calibrating it lol
