And the ball travels over the net earlier when you're hitting from the sidelines so that allows you to hit the angle flatter and with more pace. From the center, the net is much closer to the spot you want to hit so the ball has to dip very fast to clear the net and land in which is very difficult to do while putting any kind of pace behind it.

This general concept is why David Nalbandian was so good and why he had so much success against Roger prior to his injury. He had the incredible ability to take the ball early in the center of the court and still hit the corners, forcing Roger to run side to side which he did not like to do.

i would atill prefer to be in the middle of the court. i wouldn't search for these angles unless my opponent pulls me to that side
