1930s FASHIONS ~ VINTAGE SEWING PATTERNS ~ 1938 VOGUE PATTERN BOOK

I purchased this vintage sewing pattern magazine from an antique store about 15 years ago. It is April-May 1938 Vogue Pattern Book filled with drawings of patterns offered to home sewers.

This is a fun and educational look at the fashions - mostly dresses - many were sewing in the 1930s.

What an amazing collection and wow, did women have style back then! I love the fact that some of those patterns said ‘Easy’, hardly!! as compared to our easy patterns now 😂. It was a treat for the eyes, thank you for sharing.

My prom dress from 1993 would have fit into this catalog perfectly. Apparently, I've liked this time period for a really long time. My mom let me pick out a pattern and fabric and took me to a seamstress. It was such an elegant dress. She took me to have my hair put up in a french twist. These pictures reminded me of that special time in my life.

The coats! And in general, the much more interesting design lines of a lot of these garments are breathtaking and I’d love to see some of that ingenuity applied to some of today’s patterns. Asymmetrical ruching, dramatic tucks, the use of belts. Loved it all. Thanks!

I too love this fashion era. The drawings are so creative. I m curious what did you pay for this book? I have recently bought magazines for women from the 30s and 40s and get very happy when I look through them. . I 've decorating my sewing rooms with poster framed vintage copied cut outs and love it. Keep inspiring.

The pattern 7961, which is a cape in this video at 1:17 looks VERY similar to the newly released Vogue pattern v2054
