DGCR has a feature where you enter in discs that are in your bag. You have to click on a ton of stuff and it’s old school. I went back years later to the website and saw my old discs that I used to bag

I think gateway is also a company that played with rubber blends earlier then even vibram. I could be way wrong here because i can't find when it came out but they have been messing around with all kinds of plastic blends for a long time.

There's no doubt that DGCR is a very dated website now, but there's more to say about why it changed disc golf.

First, for a period of time, DGCR's SEO was high for disc golf search terms, so new people would be directed to the site which really helped a new wave of people get into the sport. At the time it was easily the most comprehensive guide of courses. There were others, but often they were regional.

Second, the review standards at DGCR were and still are much higher than UDisc. While it's getting better on UDisc, there are still tons of garbage reviews or reviews with zero info. The average DGCR review might be about as helpful as the aggregate UDisc reviews for courses that haven't been significantly changed in the past 10 years.

Third, it's likely that UDisc scraped a lot of data from DCGR when they got started. Would UDisc be able to be as comprehensive as quickly as they were without doing this? Probably not.

Right now UDisc is better than DGCR and it'll likely stay that way, but there are still lots of pro's historically and currently for DGCG. Also, use an adblocker dude!
