she’s just a girl. we’re just a crowd. can i make it anymore obvious? she was so young, i’m sure you’ve heard how she rocked the music world 🎶

if you haven’t, or if you have, here’s a trip back in time examining Avril Lavigne’s immediate impact and how she helped define an entire decade. While simultaneously having an army of artists built in her mold. Of course, I can’t cover every single Avril-lite artist. But here are a few to give the scope of her impact.

Avril strategy marketing was definitly one of the greastest of the 00's, capture the feeling of being an angst teenager as well as being a relatable character to feel, she was sad, she was anger, she was everything that a teenager goes trough and wants to be, rebel, the tie is still iconic though.

she was the blueprint

Avril doesn’t get enough credit for the early aughts icon she is.

Early 2000s celebrity beef was really something else lol. Media coverage of punk girl Avril going after Disney sweetheart Hillary Duff is so unserious 😂 What a time...

Hilary was basically fighting with her label because she did not want to be called another avril just how avril had to fight off labels because she didnt want to be another britney or xtina . Its always a trend that follows.

Fefe Dobson deserved to have a bigger mainstream career. She had the look, talent, and songs to back it all up.

Avril is like Billy Idol...Punk fronting but really just pop. Nothing wrong with it, just like you've said, it's a gateway for people do discover more hardcore stuff.

Does anyone remember Skye Sweetnam? She's another Canadian artist that labels initially tried to market after Avril due to the similarities in sound and style. She did a couple soundtracks for Wayside, Buzz On Maggie, Barbie Diaries etc and now has her own metal band called Sumo Cyco and she's amazing💖

Avril deserve more credit for the icon that she is. Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Elish and TS take a lot of her...and give her reconigtion she deserve.
Avril stills rocks❤

Olivia Rodrigo has very similar marketing to TBDT era Avril especially on guts.

Apart from Avril’s definitive and distinct style, it was her song writing that really captured the audience seeing and hearing what a real teenager was like it was raw it was real, and it was real and I think that was the thing that everybody tried to replicate aside from your cookie cutter, polished Pop star at the time she was real and an icon even up to know her lyrics, her stories evoke that sense of teen angst.

I always say (and people don't always believe me) that Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne paved the way for Taylor Swift. Taylor shares a LOT of songwriting stylistic similarities to Avril. I listened to and loved all these girls, including Skye Sweetnam, Amy and Fefe. Was a MASSIVE fan of Lillix and bought their last album.

There’s only one Avril.
Nothing can beat the early 2000’s where she was dominating! 😍

Omg, Rumors by Lindsay Lohan is still in my rotation. I love that song.

Even an indie rock legend like Liz Phair wanted a piece of the Avril Pie with her 2003 self-titled album (matrix all producing its bigger singles like Why Can’t I and Extraordinary).

Lindsay Lohan's Speak still holds up til this day such a great album and she wrote most the songs. Too bad she quit music she has a great voice.

You'd be surprised to meet Belinda (The princess of Latin pop in the 2000s), she was the Hispanic version of Avril. The plagiarism was so blatant that many times she only translated the lyrics of his songs and it was a huge success.

What makes Avril very interesting is that she's very pretty yet effortlessly cool. Her tomboyish fits looked really swag without trying hard.
At that time, she was a breath of fresh air in an era where teenage pop stars are starting to show off their skins and boobs.

It was such a trend for girls to mimic her we called it Avril Lavigne Syndrome.
