Finally answering the question from the void linux installation video, a Distro that actually comes pre-installed with htop.

Thanks for the review Kenny. Me using Linux started with Peppermint in 2017 and never left it. Login screen background and wallpaper are done by Karl Schneider. Icon theme is Papirus, but on Peppermint it's named Pepirus.

Great distro. I run this on a 10yr old HP Mini.

It´s a really nice light distro. I use the 32bit version on a 14 years old Sony vaio vgn-N38E/w. Runs great and the design is beautiful for me.

Great video! Peppermint is a distro that I'm considering using, but the lead developer sadly passed away back in January, which leaves people wondering if there will be a release of Peppermint 11 - which follows the Ubuntu LTS Release of 20.04 - so I've been waiting to see if their team is back working on Peppermint 11 and if they post a release date. If so, I want to put this on my second machine!🙂

You can't DNS Block youtube ads, thats why the included Adblocker does not work.

This looks like the candidate ive been looking for to put in an old PC from circa 2008. 1 core Athlon, 2GB DDR2, etc. I lack the patience to deal with minimalist distros like Arch and Gentoo, but need something super lightweight. And I think I found it!

When you have 8 or 16 GB of RAM, I dont mind using something like Ubuntu or Manjaro with 1.2GB of idling ram usage. It works fine for my purposes. But considering that a firefox browser playing a youtube video uses over a GB of ram, that's intolerable on a 2GB system

I found Peppermint to be pretty cool :) surprised to find someone else that uses it.

When using ICE you can select the 'favicon' option (the default on my Peppermint-9 installation) which will give you a standard YouTube icon. I use Peppermint on an old laptop as my lazy person's option. I removed ICE & all of the web apps for a 'better Ubuntu.' I found Nemo with all of its spoon-feeding really annoying so it was replaced with SpaceFM. Peppermint is a good option for a friend or family member who is struggling with an unsupported MS system & a good graphical base for those who are happy using ncurses & curl apps to expand the utility of the OS... nInvaders 4ever! ;-)

I use ICE to create a browser app for each bank and utility I log into when paying my bills online. Each browser app will also have it's own dedicated Firefox profile by default.

For me, this logo and theming look like Umbrella from RE; I'm not too fond of it. The best thing about LXDE is that it already comes with Openbox preinstalled, so it is a quick and easy step to drop the DE and try a WM's flexibility

Peppermint runs great in a VM for me while in Windows. Nice small footprint, and since the heavier distros I run full time on various dual boot machines (ElementaryOS and PopOS) are both based on Ubuntu this is a nice way for me to test things without a reboot. I used Voyager (both Xfce and Gnome) for the same reasons but got distracted by French translation problems. The current advantage for Voyager is that it has been updated based on 20.04 LTE while Peppermint of course has not. My primary machine uses Elementary, so for now I still have a vested interest in an 18.04 based OS. Really, the reasons this makes a nice VM install are the same things that turn a lot of people off of Linux. It looks like someone is having a bad Windows 3.1 flashback, and although there is a ton of customization available it can be a bit tiresome finding it all and making things feel right. Nice work on the video by Mental Outlaw!

From my favs is BODHI LINUX because I can fit it on small usb and use it as full os because works out of the box and is not distracting.

Admit that I'm not a Linux GURU, but I rather like Peppermint. Out of the 4 distros I have running on different machines, I find I boot the Peppermint flavor more often. Peppermint is faster on my machines than the other 3 distros. My needs for specialized software pretty much went away after I retired 10 years ago. I've run Peppermint and Mint for several years back to 2005. But still not a guru mainly because there was a few years that I was hung into MS products.

Ey there, just wanted to point out that the advert blocker said a restart is required to take effect, also ICE had the option to use the site's fav icon as the logo for youtube.

Cheers

3:12 At this step when I click Install I get a "Timed out error". What do I do? I'm using a USB drive and using it as the priority when booting the laptop. PLEASE help and thank you.
