If someone told me, a giants fan, before last years draft that the rookie QB we take would throw 24 touchdowns while not playing all 16 games I would’ve been happy with that alone. Add that the giants didn’t have a healthy receiving core and no established #1, terrible O-line, he stands tall in the pocket and can deliver a nice ball while taking a shot, and his biggest problem was fumbling the football not throwing picks, I’d say we got our guy for the future

Saying his offensive line is not the best is an understatement. When a QB has like a second to get rid of the ball before 3 rushers are in his face, there’s not a lot he can do, and still did anyway. Give him a good LT, C and another legit WR to complement Slayton and you’ll see what he can truly do. I do agree that he needs to keep his fumbles down.

I'm happy as fuck Giants got him, I got a feeling he's gonna be a top 3 QB with Jackson & Mahomes for the next few years. Only reason he fumbled alot this year is because our line sucked and he wasn't used to NFL level defensive pressure. The people who trashed the Jones pick are those who watched no film and/or know nothing about football. Haskins played with an entire offense of NFL talent. Jones did not play with a single draft pick on the offensive side of the ball in his entire Duke career. If people actually watched and analyzed film they would see Jones toughness, touch, accuracy on short and intermediate routes, and very good speed.

Nice assessment, I agree fully. He needs to work on protecting the ball and being better in the red zone. The Giants need to get him some linemen to protect him, and Sterling Sheppard and Evan Engram need to be on the field more. I was impressed on the development of Slayton though, he became Jones's go to guy at the end of the season.

That throw against the pats was not triple coverage. The dude under and over were not in position to make a play. It was tight man coverage, and he needed to make plays to even have a chance in that game.
