MITER SAW TIPS!

How to figure angles on a miter saw. I figured out the hard way a long time ago if I have an 80 degree corner I can't just bisect it and cut two 40's from the miter gauge. You'll actually set it to 50°. I'll explain why...

Great tip Matthew. When I first started, I'd call it my miter might not saw. Wonderful people like you have us spoiled by saying "set your miter saw to x degrees". Boy was I confused the first time I had to figure my own 😅 Thanks very much for this video!

So how would you get the 20° cut if you cant go to 70? I see your saw only goes to 50 on each side.

Does that work for both ways, left and right? Or does going to the right add to the 90? (85-75-70 left, 95-100-105 right) Also, if that is the case, how would you cut 0-45 degrees? Or do I need to cut the opposite angles then? (cut 80 degrees backwards to get a 20 degree cut if you see what I mean)

The proof will be in the practical application.

I do not have to do miter cuts often so this will take some experimentation.

I too want to know how do you cut a 20° cut when there is no 70 on the gauge..

I have the BoschGCM12SD, why do saw manufacturers then say that positive stops are at 15, 22.5, 31.6 &45 after watching your video you explained it well especially with the sample

I understand that to make a 7 degree cut you have to subtract 7 from 90 to get 83 which is 7 on the miter saw guage. You required a 7 degree miter on the purple martin house and I had problems using 7 on the saw. What am I doing wrong?

I’m one of those guys that used 45&90. So when you say 22% on the kid’s tablet what we are setting 11%? Or am I more confused?
