You really can't get much done in the shop or at a job site without a miter saw. There are other ways to crosscut wood, but none as convenient and quick as the miter saw.

Are sliding mitre saws stable enough to do accurate trench cutting using a depth stop ? I want to cross cut a 2 inch deep trench out of 4x4 inch wood to make a mortise joint with a flat bottom. Which is the best sliding mitre saw eg hitachi 12 inch version ? Want to do a series of cross cuts next to each other at the same depth, and hammer out the remaining wood to get to a mortise joint quickly.thanks mate. Good video.

Excellent tuition, clear, precise and without waffle. I have been given a Bosun 10" sliding mitre saw with no manual. I am hoping to obtain a manual but if not do you think an Evolution manual would be helpful? 2

At the 10:00 mark, you tell us to make sure that the blade is 90 degrees to the table, and you show that with your square. BUT YOU DON'T TELL US WHAT TO DO IF IT'S NOT 90 DEGREES!!! What good is checking for square if you don't tell us how to fix the problem? I have virtually the same Kobalt model you have, and I was really looking forward to learning how to do just that!!!

Hi Sir. Could you help me why every time I saw piece thickness is about under 1/2 in it always fly out far ( dangerous) but long piece is fine. Please explain to learn it. Thanks
