Linux Mint 21 is finally available. It is based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and is codename Vanessa.

You can see what's all new in this quick review of Linux Mint 21.

Mint 21 features:

- New upgrade tool
- New Bluetooth application
- WebP image support
- Improved thumbnail support
- New wallpapers (not really a feature but well)
- Fixing up a few shortcomings of Ubuntu 22.04
- Cinnamon 5.4
- New process monitor

And more...

If you like the features, you can choose to upgrade to version 21 from 20.3 or install it afresh.

I'm perfectly happy with 20.3. Will give them a couple of months at least to discover any issues before I upgrade.

Going to use 20.3 for a few more months to see what might shake out under user load. Pioneers get arrows (usually in the back),

If I understand correctly, it is not the "bells and whistles" being upgraded so much as the "Under-the-hood" improvements. Since Linus Torvalds was a boy - Naah, not really, I'm joking. But, what is not a joke are the approx 12 years I have used Mint on a myriad of machines and never once had a serious system problem. True story, folks.
It always delivers what I need - to get my jobs done. Linux Mint 21. Vanessa, Cinnamon. I Can't wait!!!

I've been on 21 since the beta and I love it. Had no issues with 20.3 either, but back in March when I got a new Framework i7, I couldn't get the modem driver to work at all. I ended up with Zorin at the time. To my surprise, the issue was fixed to wher the modem drivers were included, so I went straight back to Mint.. Trying to get the fingerprint reader working now..

Honestly I really like Linux Mint. And I recently switched to Ubuntu to give it a try because of the cool design.

What do you guys like between Linux Mint and Ubuntu?

I've always liked Zorin, Ubuntu and Mint, but I keep coming back to Mint, idk. Mint is just super awesome.

Just for fun, I installed it on a 2008 Dell Studio laptop and it ran fine.

Upgrade instructions from 20.3 to 21 is yet to be shared by mint team. So far, we only know that we gotta use the upgrade tool. Question is how do we get it? Will it be rolled out with updates via repository? Should we download it from else where? All these questions remain unanswered. Hope we get a clarity on this soon!

I loved Linux Mint more than Ubuntu. Now I'm on manjaro as my new lapu didn't work well with Linux mint.

I request you to make a good video on arch Linux install on actual machine.

I really enjoyed my time using Mint, but for some reason it kept getting some sort of bug that would require me to repair it over and over again (almost once a week at a point). Since then, I can't really trust on it to be my main computer's OS anymore...

at least pretty much everyone moved to kernel 5.15+
(I mean in mainstream desktop oriented distros)

Been waiting for this because based on Ubuntu Jammie Jellyfish. Problem with mint is it is way downstream so software repository has old software. This should be a temporary reprive.. at least for a while. Mint is the best Linux OS by far (I use mint or xfce desktop) and I'm very happy about the changes (not as snap dependant as Ubuntu) and blueman, and timeshift which now prevents you filling your whole disk with backups (yep, I crashed my computer doing that previously). So all good. Of course I have fears about the ever expanding size and resource requirements of mint, but hopefully will settle down now in that respect.
