My truck had a rough idle that varied it seemed depending on the weather so I figured I had a gasket leak. Then one day it starts bucking and hesitating on take off to the point it wasn't driveable. Troubleshooting with the mechanic and we discovered this...

DON'T DROP THE TANK!!!😤😤
Just lift up the bed!!!

Intake gaskets are common. Cheap to replace.
Cheaper then a fuel pump.

With the key off, unplug your throttle position sensor, turn the key to the on position, plug the sensor back in then start the truck, fixed mine

Locate the two ground locations under the driver's side door, remove and clean them removing rust etc on the frame and connection points, greese them and reinstall the grounds. This solved my issues on a 2004 2500hd 6.oL gas guzzler.

To all the people wondering why there truck still bogs after changing everything. For my case it was the throttle position sensor. I hope this helps easy and quick fix. Another key thing is checking all the fuses people never do I found one 20 yellow fuse blown that was powering mas airflow sensors and a hole bunch of other things that had to do with my bogging issues I belive

I actually found it to be easier to unbolt the bed and prop it up rather than dropping the tank. I just left 2 bolts on the passenger side loose rather than removing them totally to keep the bed from slipping off.

I have a Chevy 2500 and if I start it after it has been driven and immediately put the truck in drive and take off I sometimes get this hesitation where it seems to not be getting fuel and it seems to severely bog down for a few hundred yards. I realized this and if I wait 30-45 seconds before putting in gear it runs fine. I did check with the ether for a vacuum leak but there was none.

TIP‼️‼️

this would of been a great video if i would of found it earlier my gmc sierra 5.3 fuel pump went out it would start up but when gasing it would bog and die a mechanic ended up saying it has low gas pressure so went to autozone and bought a 120$ one which it was not as hard to install as to think off just need a extra pair of hands to lift the bed but the fuel pump from autozone was trash so went to my local auto parts and got oem fuel pump which fixed my problem but now i have a problem with sometimes running normal and sometimes it bogs i just recently seen evap line is missing so i dont know if it could be that or what else hopefully this helps others

I’m not really a car dude idk much. But my truck has been like jerking when i’m coming to a complete stop. Like if i’m driving 35mph+ and brake at a red like it jerks just before coming to a complete stop. Do you know what causes that and is it something serious ?

I just got done with a 6 hours long trip at just 2k rpms. The fix was simply the fuel filter. Now my 2003 suburban runs better than when I bought it last years.

Im curious also i get bucking basky at times ...around toen it seems fine but if i get going like up to 60 80mph and especially if im going uphill (more noticable ) what i think is the engine bucking anyways badly ....and i jaut press down on the gas and it seems to smoothe out ....and no codes ...all new ignition coils soakr plugs no engine codes...what im thinking is bc it burns oil (about 2 quarts ) imbetween oil changes ...so every 3, 000 miles ....is that obviously im burning oil and its leaking by Does anybody know if oil leaking by gumming up the cyclinders when they fire couod cause the engine to buck ?....bc its like when i aolly more gas rpm im assuming its burning hotter and burning some of that oil off better so thats why the bucking stops when i just floor it checy silverado 1500 2002 200, 000 miles ...im wonderimg if replacing the piston rings would solve the problem ?

I had a 2005 z71 would do that at a 1/4 tank wrapped heat tape around the fuel rail on the intake manifold fixed that problem it was vapor locking!

Yeah this is exactly what mine is doing but it's really really really bad and there are sometimes where it'll even itself out and drive like it should but most of the time it stays like that

I have the same problem and yes it is the fuel pump but it is a great idea to do the intake on them things very very very common problem your millage will go up and it will preform way better

Yeah my 2005 Chevy Silverado started running rough the other day and I turned around and gone back home and when I got home I stopped to back it in? It died? It started right back up and I backed it up in the driveway, I used it the next day to take my grandson to school and it was running just fine! What’s going on??? The only code I had and reset was P0454, can that cause that to happen?? Oh and the power steering has a very little leak, I don’t think that can make it act funky?? 😢

Good info. I had a very similar problem. My wife's 94 1500 Suburban would buck and backfire during moderate and hard acceleration. Power would increase but with the way it acted you wouldnt want to stay on it. It was the ignition cables. Well, I should say changing them solved the problem. As I changed them I found corrosion on one of the distributor cap terminals. I had to wait until 1am for the engine to cool off so I will change the cap tomorrow...er, later today when the store is open but I cleaned that terminal and test drove it hard. Runs great!

My truck started doing this. I'd be at a stop, then I'd accelerate by pressing pedal about 1/4. It'd accelerate slowly. Not in relation to how much gas I was giving it. Then when it got to about 2K rpm or so, it'd accelerate properly. Like the truck is sluggish. New pump. New fuel filter. Thoughts?

Old school way of finding vacuum leaks spraying starter fluid to diagnose and find the leak
