5-year-old barely escapes coyote attack

A little girl managed to escape a coyote as it charged her in her family's front yard.

The parents should watch her a bit closer, what's more important your children or what ever?, in today's world there are predators everywhere, two and four legged ones.

Umm some common sense advice, never leave your children unattended, regardless of where you are, including home, put fences up if you can, and hopefully all will be okay!

This is just bizarre to me. I've been around Coyotes my entire life and I've never seen anything like this and there are many videos. Where in the country are these attacks happening? I'm on the outskirts of Phoenix and I see Coyotes all the time. They come down to the gold courses to hunt rabbits and quail. Sometimes very small dogs, even on a leash.

Unexpected natural moment reminder, you're being too carefree, sweetie. And as noted( ..that unrestrained simply enjoying life in a kid is awesome), the mom & or dad need to take more responsibility for their kid.
I've seen unattended kids younger than this just wonder out into just city streets, being kids. Grateful the kids ain't killed. Eyes open..folks!

Coyotes are opportunists, and they will scavenge or hunt whatever appears an easy meal/target. Some domesticated animals (cats and dogs) and perhaps young infants or toddlers will be at risk when coyotes are on the hunt. I live in region of the NE heavily populated with Coyote-Wolf hybrids and have observed them hunting. Years back my neighbors small dogs got loose and ran up into the state park adjoining our property. The coyotes had predated the small dogs, and when I heard the racket of them howling and the small dogs yelping, I let loose my large Live Stock Guarding dogs and they ran up into the mountain and dispatched several coyotes. Unfortunately, the coyotes had already killed one dog. My dogs were able to save the other who was in the mouth of a coyote. Another neighbor observed them hunting for rodents coming into his barn (owns 9 horses) and she also saw one take a feral cat on her estate (33 acres) in upscale suburb. After my large male killed several coyote-wolf hybrids (about 25%-50% larger than western coyotes, and they are pack hunters in the NE), the coyotes disappeared from my area for several years, but have returned in recent years. When my female Central Asian Ovtcharka would come in heat, several coyotes would visit, howling outside my fenced property for several hours and dropping dead game outside my fence near the female's kennel. Three seasons ago, when the female came into heat, a male coyote managed to enter my property, likely attracted by her pheromones and hoping to mate, but my 160 lb alpha she-beast tore the scorned lover coyote almost in half. This past summer I have observed several coyotes frequenting my area. My male has killed at least 5 coyotes, one bobcat, several buck deer that managed to jump my 7.5 foot fence, one copperhead snake. The CAO dogs in general possess a very advanced territorial Protective & Defense Drive, but unlike the Great Pyrenees that I have owned, never attempt to roam off-property. You must be mindful and vigilant when you reside in close proximity to predators, but for most of the time, they are no issue. We are visited by young black bear occasionally, but they are very mindful of and intimidate by the dogs.

I'm very happy the young lady is ok. But the news lady has issues or is misinformed. When did coyotes start screaming. And what are they screaming about. Maybe the human making to much noise.

Play behavior, not hunting.... I do believe coyotes are dangerous to pets and children. They hunt in groups.... coyotes play... a lone juvenile like this is likely attracted by play behavior...

Dog just saying hi there was no aggressiveness from the animal. Just adults fearing what they don't know.
