There has been another attack by a coyote in Vancouver's iconic Stanley Park, despite several of the animals being euthanized after dozens of previous incidents. Scientists have struggled to find an explanation for the highly unusual behaviour, though experts say the coyotes are likely finding human food or even being fed.

Stay away from their territory, poor coyotes.

This is interesting, because there are coyotes in my area, but no one has been attacked. Like, ever. I've seen them a lot. I wonder if it's a pack culture, like a learned behavior.

Give the coyote and ACME catalog, the problem will take care of itself..

"Dan has an idea as to why animals are going after people"… oh, gee, I wonder what it could _possibly_ be. 🤔 I couldn't possibly have anything to do with humans constantly building human stuff in nature and encroaching on wildlife's habitats. definitely no. 🙄 It _must_ be something else, something the animals' faults. ¬_¬

Unbelievable. Civilized country can't handle few wild animals in huge city downtown. Shame for Vancouver governor

If a dog bites a 5 year old they put it down, it should be the same for a cayote

Why they attack?

They are a predator who selects prey based on their expectation of success without injury. Duh

the poor beasts have nothing to eat right now due to the heat wave. Instead of helping the animals, the humans are chasing them away

I live in a huge suburb with hundreds of coyotes who never attack people—ever. They might attack a small animal, but never a child. I never see them during the day, but hear them frolicking at night.

Makes sense, children are easy pickens.

We got a Kevlar jacket for our dog, makes them bite proof as we have a lot of coyotes roaming the area

30 years ago I was walking with my family..in a clear cut area..and a coyote went after my three year old child...who was right by my side.
So do be careful and aware..
We're food to them.

Its not unusual if their habitat and food sources are going up in smoke. The bears must be famished with the failing salmon runs and no berries.

Urbanite's.
So scared of real nature they can't even deal with wild animals the size of house cats. :/

These comments are very Canadian, valuing animals over humans

enough is enough. I know its all about preservation but this is dangerous. We need t osend a few hunters and get rid of them once and for all. We cant have coyotes holding the city hostage. Thats ridiculous. Its time to hit back and stop this its been going on all year.

This is sad. It’s our fault what we have done to nature.
