What is Romanticism?

Understand what Romanticism is and what it isn't, with examples from visual art and music from the period. Romanticism was a reaction against the Age of the Enlightenment. I had to chuckle
I know nothing about romanticism but came here to learn due to some discussions on Lewis Carroll.... Needless to say, I chuckled because I, too, believed the poor country area would make me happy.. we have not been here a year yet and I find the beauty to be in the open sky and stars. Not much else beautiful... Missing quality hospitals now that my 11 year old needs a biopsy of her thyroid nodule and i have to drive a long distance to get to anywhere that knows what they are doing...
