Romantic Realism chronicles the inspirational story of an 84 year-old artist living in Vermont who continues to produce work characterized by precision and detail.
Rod’s optimistic approach to realism is meticulously applied through his observation of the minute parts that he recombines to make up a glorious new whole. Defined as romantic, it is because his work touches the brink of expressionism inviting us into a world where we all want to live. He paints what he sees or, at least, allows us to view what he wants us to see.
