This video lecture discusses the meaning of romanticism.

Romanticism was an artistic and intellectual movement in Europe during the late 18th to the mid-19th centuries that redefined the ways in which people in the West thought about themselves and their world. Romanticism was broadly construed as a break from the Enlightenment, the dominant intellectual and philosophical movement in Europe during the 18th century, which established reason as the foundation of all knowledge.

It sounds like Romanticists viewed humanity in a quasi-divine way. They thought we could create the world with our imagination? What gave them that idea?
