I used to work at McDonald’s, now my store could have been different but ALL sodas including Cole came in boxes that contained a bag of the syrup

No.... The giant stainless steel tanks are for the carbonation... All drinks come in boxes in their syrup form, then is mixed with soda water.... Same with every gas station and restaurant ever, if there is a fountain pop machine, it's a box of syrup....

It hardly has to do with how its contained, they probably use higher syrup/carbonated water ratio, and the salt from eating fries enhances the flavor.

It's more of a concentration difference, they intend to make thicker Cola, to allow cola taste as usual when ice melt, so when you have a sip freshly poured it is actually "better" as initially it's just stronger

back in the day. I worked in a deli making sandwiches….etc. The coke syrup was always separate and delivered in metal pressurized bottles. You could literally mix it to your taste. So good.

It’s got almost nothing to do with what it’s stored in, it has everything to do with the increased syrup content in the soda. That’s literally all it is, the bottled stuff has slightly less syrup in it. The only other thing that might make a difference is the extra carbonation

I always choose canned soda over a fountain, bottle, or tap. Metal has the best taste preservation.

It might just be the one near me, but the coke at my McDonald's, I feel, is more watered than how it is in a can.

Ive installed the beverage systems for McDonalds for over 25 years now. They do have bulk stainless tanks for the coke syrup. However they taste better because of a machine called a Multiplex. After the water passes through the most intricate water filtration systems on the market. It's prechilled to 36 degrees in a large refrigeration system before it is carbonated. As the colder the water is, the more co2 it absorbs. Also the syrup is prechilled in this unit as well. The water and syrup travel from the Multiplex 125 ft to the front soda machines where the syrup and water is mixed at the dispense point. The syrup and water in the lines are constantly chilled and kept at 36 degrees from point a to b by a cold circulating loop of carbonated water inside an insulated conduit that has all the water and sryup lines in it that run from the multiplex in the back to the front soda machines. They have wadifferent water filtration systems for each beverage. The espresso machine is fed by a reverse osmosis system and so on For the icees, ice makers etc. They all have different types of filtration and tds levels depended on the beverage.

Moderation is an easy thing to say but not so easy to apply in practice

It’s because the syrup lines have cold water lines running along with them. It chills the sodas. Cold syrup taste better. Same reason a standard fountain unit must have ice to maintain proper taste. The cold plate inside the ice bin must be kept cold to serve tasty Coca Cola 😊
