this simply isnt true.
1. most mcdonalds branches just increase the syrup to water ratio.
2. some cokecola syrup batches are made with a different ratio of ingrediants to companies who pay for it. mcdonalsd famously has a specialised sprite mix just for them.
3. every country has different tasting cokecola, because cokecola simply provides the recipies and syrup. the water is usually local to the factory. some cokecola is better in other counties.

McDonald's worker here. It's got nothing to do with the straw. The drink dispenser mixes the carbonated water and the soda syrup in your cup as it dispenses. The reason for the pop of flavor is because it's fresh; if you buy the soda in a can or in a bottle, it's topically had some time to sit before it touches your tongue. However, our drink dispensers aren't unique; anywhere you go that has a similar drink dispenser is the same. Though, our straw is only wider because of our frappes and our shakes so that they flow through the straw more easily.
