I work at McDonald's and we do not get our syrup in metal tins, we get them in bags. Also we don't keep the syrup cold at all, it just sits in the back at room temperature

its true i always look forward to that first taste when i get a coke from mcdonalds. i guess the purified water and keeping the syrup in metal containers instead of plastic bags helps the most.

In the late 60's I worked at French's Coffee Shop in Portland. It was a small neighborhood restaurant with a great menu, of burgers, dinners, drinks, and ice cream sundaes. The Coke, 7up, Root Beer, and Freska syrups were delivered in stainless steel containers. The syrup was fresh and mixed with carbonation at the soft drink dispensers, assuring to always taste it's best. No bagged syrup for us.
