Antianxiety drugs (or anxiety medication) are used to treat anxiety disorders, which are characterized by feelings of worry, nervousness, or uneasiness.

The different types of antianxiety drugs include benzodiazepines, barbituates, and buspirone. We’re going over these drugs' mechanisms of action, side effects, interactions, and risks.

Wow! You are an excellent teacher! I used to teach my pupils in grade 7 exactly the way you do. That's how they could remember so much exam time.
You mentioned that Diazepam affects the lungs too. That's a big eye opener for me. Specialists can't figure out why my chest gets tight n I have difficulty breathing. When I go to the emergency room they say it's because of Gerd. But you definitely have the answer! Thank you🙏

I dont get sleepy at all on benzos. Quite opposite in fact. I get energy, most days I have just no energy because the anxiety and depression is so heavy...

Low dose nightly Clonidine knocked out my anxiety and insomnia better than anything else, and it doesn't have the side effects or risks of addiction or dependence that benzos and other anxiety or sleep medications have. My daughter responded even better on its sister drug Guanfacine for anxiety and insomnia, and no longer has debilitating panic attacks. Both Clonidine and Guanfacine can also be prescribed off-label as migraine preventatives, and Clonidine has eliminated my migraines.

Buspirone did nothing for me. Alprazolam was like a miracle at first, but of course ended up being trouble. Exercise, no alcohol, and clean eating have done wonders.

our instructor and book say that buspirone will make patients drowsy and dizzy so they should not operate machinery at least until the effects are known. so to drive or not to drive?

I take clonazepam, but only when I have painful anxiety. Not on any regular schedule. Why would I take it when I'm feeling good?

Some of us have to live on benzodiazepines though. There are exceptions to the long term use of those medications. The alternative to that for some of us is death unfortunately for those of us like myself with severe panic disorder and seizures.

I get panic attacks anxiety every day. They put me on antidepressant and they don't work. Plus I'm not depressed. So I have to live with it and it's hard l am 68yrs old.

I could not help but laugh as that guy creepily poked up from behind you at the start of this video. I guess you could say laughter is great medicine! Althought I passed the nclex-rn 11 years ago, I gotta say thanks for the review! BTW, will you do a follow up on antihistamines (benadryl, atarax, etc), bupropion, lavender, beta blockers, clonidine, and snri's for an additional pharmacology lesson on anxiety management?
