It’s not that palm oil can’t be grown sustainably. It can, it’s just that companies prefer to just clear cut everything so they can make more money.

When they say palm oil is environmentally damaging, they mean that large tracts of tropical forest has been cleared to make way for the oil palm trees. But let's not forget that every agricultural plant product takes up huge areas of land everywhere.

In the global north, we have also cleared huge tracts of land to grow our wheat, barley, corn, soy. It's just that we did it centuries ago, so we're used to thinking that the land is 'destined' as agricultural land, whereas when we look at the tropics, we prefer to see original rain forest, and we view with outrage the destruction of the original forest.

But fundamentally, it is just us in the global north thinking that our actions are just, while those same actions taken by others are unjust.

If it's processed improperly, it will contain carcinogens, that's the main reason to stay away from it.

I tried cutting out palm oil because orangutans are my favourite animal and they're endangered because of thus process. It was Impossible, it's in nearly everything.

Palm oil is terrible for you as well as all the other seed oils lol this guy is a plant
