To be honest from my opinion, Calisthenics allow you to become unbelievably agile, that's what I love about it. As for pure strength, of course weight lifting and a planned diet will dominate. But c'mon, who wouldn't love to feel like a feather with ripped muscles?

At 40 I started battling anxiety really bad after dealing with depression. I found your videos and started working out to stave off anxiety. I mixed the "simple" 10-20 minute calisthenics videos (2-3 rounds each) with some resistance videos I had found and rotated them every other day. As a result, my anxiety is far more manageable and less intense, and I lost 30 pounds! Due to low T issues, I am focusing primarily on calisthenics with the exception of the lower body. Plus, I'm 42 now and focusing on longevity. Great stuff!!

I did weight training for years, and while it totally has its place in a complete training program, what I came to realize is that I never really had *fun* with training until I discovered calisthenics.

This really opened my mind to how works out really worked. I love how people are loving calisthenics because it builds you up internally and weights is just external and more for show

There is NOTHING wrong with both:) rlly depends on what your goal is.
I went to the gym for two years I hated every day.
I have dumbbells and do maybe curls for biceps and triceps but I stick to calisthenics:)

Personally i find calisthenics much more beneficial for my overall fitness including endurance, weight relative strength... etc. But the improvements could slow down over time and using weights or machine training can help overcome certain plataeus. For me, calisthenics is more suitable since i dont really care about looking big or being able to lift tons, i just want to exercise for fun, improve health and improve performance in my other sports (i compete in swimming and also does cycling, running and skateboarding)

I do both honestly just mix and match lol. I started back in 2020 at 17 weighing 145 and now I’m 19 weighing 185 with me keeping an average 10% body fat.

Depends on whether you want to look like a gymnast or bodybuilder. Unless you want to look as big as possible, I'd go with calisthenics. To those who say you can't progress, let me see your planche, your hollow back press, your front and side lever, etc. If you can do those, you can complain about having nowhere to progress to. If you can't, you're not strong enough. Once I get there, I'm pretty sure I'll be big and strong enough for my tastes. And personally I find it a way more inspiring to work toward the goal of being able to do things that for most people are flat out impossible to even attempt, rather than just doing the same thing over and over again with more plates. And I love the feeling of being in complete control of my whole body. Plus, if you do the proper preparations, I think calisthenics training is much better for your joints, which the older I get, the more I realize is the most important thing. But you could do the right supplemental joint exercises and also heavy lifting I suppose.

Since the pandemic I've been following Chris more & more - I looked at his "Best Chest Workout" video in which he literally shows like ten kinds of push-ups (I did not even realize there were so many variations). Love you my man!

I like how this video highlights Miami fitness culture. I guess you’re more inclined to look your best when you’re near the beach with minimal clothing. I like how Chris talked to a good variety of people.
Ultimately on your fitness journey, it’s good to experiment with every type of training and discover what works best for your own body type and personality. It’s usually a combination and synergy of things. Similar to an artist using mixed media to create amazing and interesting art. As i creep closer to 50 yrs old, i see/feel that mobility and coordination become more and more important. The older individuals who do calisthenics consistently look pretty impressive.

I've done both, but from my experience, I decided to try all weights. I got bigger, but since calisthenics are better at including your tendons and joints, I found myself feeling prone to stiffness in my lower back that donkey kicks and fire hydrant workouts really helped fix the problem. So, my emphasis is more with calisthenics with some added weight for extra resistance, especially in my legs, arm raise workouts and deltoid press. Also, as a fan of agility sports like circus arts or extreme sports that require body awareness, calisthenics really are the way.
