Guitar of the Day! Taking a quick look at Gibson USA's tribute to Slash's "Jessica", one of the first two 1987 Les Paul Standards Gibson sent him after he retired his Derrig and Baranet replicas. They were actually factory seconds with 3-piece tops so they aren't the prettiest guitars ever... but one was "Jessica", and it's been Slash's #1 live guitar to this day.

There have been many "Appetite for Destruction" reissues of the replica, but this is the first-ever "Jessica" model in the Slash Collection. Seems like Gibson wishes the AR team had sent Slash fancier-looking guitars in 1988!

It just hit me... I have officially become numb to the amount of Les Pauls being put out.

What is the obsession with guns and roses and slash. I do not get it. My local rock radio stations play gnr on repeat all day, you can flick thru 3 stations and just listen to the same 4 gnr songs all day long I’ve actually tested this. What is the obsession and also who is buying these guitars, they put all their stock in slash sig models but who’s actually buying these for real. Gibson could be doing so many cool things and they just refuse to and keep doing the same stuff. Give us a limited run of 335s with special finishes, or make a more accessible Les Paul and sg that’s not the studio models. Bring back the 333, do cool color runs of firebirds, just do anything other than making more fucking slash guitars please please please

The original Appetite Les Paul copy is his nicest guitar and one of the best if not THE best top I've ever seen. They nailed it on that particular guitar.

Agufish dean guitars are selling razorbacks and stealths again can they even do that since dimebag designed both of them and the dime estate are no longer with dean?

This one is actually my favorite of all his guitars. I dunno seeing it in a lot of the 90 era concert recordings just made me like that factory second top

To me that always was THE Slash LP and I think for a lot of people who were there in GnR heydays.

GnR was never as big as during the 91 to 93 stint and his main guitar was Jessica, from his appearance at the Freddie Mercury tribute, to the 92 Paris video to basicly every live footage at the time, Jessica was in his hands.

And if you were one of the OG seeing them on the aerosmith tour in 88, that's when he got the two gibson 3 pieces, so basicly his main live guitar for all of GnR prime was Jessica.

I’m surprised not a lot of people remember the Custom Shop “inspired by” Jessica released back in 2008

He played a burst in Nashville this past year and it stood out so much clearer than the rest of what he played. Anybody happen to know which model that is? Towards the end of the show.
