This tip helped me figure out that you can still record while scrolling through all apps running wheel as long as you don’t activate another app. So I can look at my notes on my phone as I record!

Haha, thanks for the tip! mine is a primitive iPhone 6 and it did the trick!!! I didn't record long but the duration showed at least 18 seconds! I'll try later if I can record by minutes. Now I know 😊
