The Mona Lisa is by Leonardo da Vinci. Her name in Italy is La Gioconda. The woman in the painting is Lisa Gheradin who got married and became Lisa Giocond (Gioconda in Italian because she is a lady) in France they called her La Jaconde “the smiling one”. She was painted in 1503. The Mona Lisa was painted on wood, and next to her used to be columns but they wore off after people tried to clean it and fly poop etc. The proof that there were columns were in Raphael’s drawing of the Mona Lisa. The pose Miss Lisa is in is “The Sitter” which is formal and serious but she’s smiling. Traditional paintings back then were formal, stiff, serious, in a dark room with their eyes looking down and their hands clenched. Miss Lisa is relaxed, smiling, sitting outside, looks at us, not in a dark room (outside) turns toward us, no formal clothes. August 11th, 1911 Vincenzo Perguggia stole the painting because he worked at La Louvre, and he wanted to return it to Italy, so he took it, acting like he was cleaning it, and 24 hours later, people finally realized the painting was gone. It took 2 years to find it, and it’s because Perguggia tried to sell it and got caught. Before it got stolen nobody really cared about it, up until it disappeared. Once Perguggia was released from jail, he opened a paint store

I know why no literally it is the second theory with some deeper meaning to it so basically the word Mona means Noble, aristocratic; Alone; To advise; To protect; My lady; Wish. And yes I did search that up on google and Lisa is the lady’s name “LISA”

Just to clear things up, the Mona Lisa wasn’t famous a long time ago, but now it is. Why? You may ask. It’s because many years ago the Mona Lisa was stolen, fortunately, the Mona Lisa was found and everyone wanted to see the piece of art that was stolen.

I could see both. But an important detail for the first theory is Da Vinci believed he had the MATHEMATICALLY PERFECT FACE. Like he did calculations and everything 😭 so a lot of work he did was modeled after himself. ALSO he was a big fan of Androgyny which further lends credit to that theory of it being him.
