CHEEZY TOFU SAUCE | Vegan Cheese Sauce | Low Fat | The Pot Thickens

Make this delicious creamy low fat high protein vegan cheese sauce. This base sauce is so satisfying and versatile. This is oil and nut free and uses tofu as a base. You can kick up the flavor by adding you favorite spices or make a queso dip by adding salsa or jalapeños. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS:

1 14 oz block of soft or silken tofu
1 t kosher salt
1/2 t garlic powder
1.5 t onion powder
1/2 t smoked paprika
1/4 t white pepper
1/4 t turmeric
1 heaping T tapioca starch - may use corn or potato starch
1 T miso paste
1/2 t spicy mustard or up to 2 tsp dijon mustard to your taste
1 T lemon juice
1 T white wine vinegar
1/2 c almond milk - cashew or soy milk works well too

INSTRUCTIONS:

Blend all ingredients well in a blender, transfer to a heavy bottomed pan. Heat on medium heat and cook with stirring until it thickens to the desired consistency - about 4-5 minutes. ENJOY!

This sauce is really light in texture which is why I love it so much. I don't like a heavy gloopy cheese sauce. It also reheats really well the next day.

Omg this is amazing!!!! I only added fresh basil to this. I used mustard powder and eliminated the white pepper and hot pepper!! This is sooo sooo amazing

Nice recipe! And what a nice, professionally done video! I recently invented a vegan cheese sauce with soft tofu, but I added a little bit of cashews for richness. Yours looks great! I may very well have to try it.

This looks great! Really sad the phytoestrogen in soy gets so maligned while the actual estrogen in dairy, which increases cancer risk, gets completely ignored. Thanks for sharing

I have a vitamix that heats as well as blends, is it still necessary to cook this recipe? Is the idea just to get it thick and creamy? Next question, is this a sauce to use for mac n cheeze? New subscriber, love your presentations, plus your voice is soothing!
