Lash is the Active Defense doctrine personified. Active Defense was a terrible doctrine and got replaced for a reason.

Note that overrated doesn't mean bad. Lash can still whoop you if the person playing her knows how to play her

Honestly, I could just live with that if her SCOP wasn't so damn expensive.
Buuut also Kindle exists. You might be able to play around an enemy Kindle's city skills but you NEED to be on cities in this game, I can avoid mountains and forests quite easily, but Kindle doesn't even have to have units near enemies on cities to sabatoge them.

I don't think many new players overrate her that much, she's very unimpressive compared to the actual good CO's. Perhaps newer online players overrate her a bit in whichever tier she's in though.

She's like the anime character that doesn't fight very well, but the rest of their character is so entertaining you have to have him in the show.

She's pretty decent, pretty much guarantees 2HKOs on cities and interrupting her caps is a nightmare. She's kinda like Kindle where her early game is bananas so use her on shorter maps.

I think part of the problem with Lash is that comm towers don't play friendly to her playstyle since she'd like to slow things down until her CO power.

Here's the thing : Map design of the original AW games differs a LOT from the maps made by the competitive scene of AWBW.

The former had at times huge maps with plenty of terrain and asymmetrical designs, while the latter is made primarily of "dotted" short square maps that for obvious reasons are obligatorily symmetrical.

Nintendo may have never cared about CO balance to begin with, but the mechanics described in this short alone doesn't make her a poor pick, AWBW's newer map design does.

I think a lot of new players are just looking for a character who isn't actively ruining their game plan, because they haven't really got one firmly set yet

The DS nerf she got hurts especially bad.
She is near unusable in that game, sadly.

I mean, Lash is still a decent character. Ironically. her abilities can make her a great bunker buster if fighting in heavily defensive terrain. If she's able to make a push in via opening up with some artillery, she can turn normally neutral or unfavorable trades into one sided affairs.

The thing is... being environmentally reliant will always make your character 'niche', and since her ability takes more than 6 stars to charge up, she's already got an ugly pace on top of all the other issues. Still. Lash works best by being aggressive, rather than defensive. There's only a few COs that actually properly work in defensive slog grinders (Olaf and Grit come to mind)

I don't know what this Advanced Wars game is, but it sounds a lot like Advance Wars.

well, i always kinda noticed. that if you attack a 10/10 unit and deal 4 to it. if you repeat the same enagement, you could actually deal 5 or 6.

so the fact that terrain def is effected by HP as well, kinda makes sense

In short, while her day-to-day is amazing (Is basically a free 10-30% fire power), her powers are atrocious due to not really giving her any real oomph, making her too vanilla to work properly.
