Shaggy doesn't seem like the type to hold on too strongly to to an ideological belief, especially one which requires some willpower to follow. Lapses in his vegetarian practices and eventually giving it up altogether seems in character for him.

this is actually really common among old hippie vegetarians from the 70's-80's time era, so it fits the lore. All the ex-hippie aunts and uncles and even my dad was at least partially vegetarian. Its important that they dont eat meat but its like the other side of the spectrum instead of vegan where you cant eat anything even like milk and eggs, but some of these old time hippies stay to the no meat but love sausage gravy. even though its sausage in the gravy its like a mild substitute in most peoples mind.

I'd love to hear what you thought of Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated, I thought that show was surprisingly great!

Shaggy's first name is Norville, which is a fact that I love because nobody knows or cares, but I can do his voice really well and it's fun to quote his line, "Call me Shaggy, like, nobody calls me Norville." when I introduce myself.

Would you make a new Scooby-Doo video for a Scooby Snack?

Actually, I think Shaggy's on again and off again vegetarianism makes sense.
I went through a series of changes between carnivore, vegetarian and even vegan, and slide back when I lacked something in my diet that gave me cravings to gnaw my arm.
I am currently in an omnivore phase, but mainly eat fish and seafood, due to discomfort about liking mammals and not wanting to eat them.

It's really harmless, but it's a shame
whenever a character is robbed from one of his traits it's a shame I think

I never would have guessed Shaggy was a vegetarian. I always thought his crazy food combos just happen to be what the writers thought were funny

*COUPLE OF THINGS*
1) I have finally made a Scooby-Doo video! It's only been like 4 years, but we got there!
3) I think I'm out of things to say already, so have a great day!

I know I"m a little bit late on this video but I want to put in my 2 cents. I've been watching a lot of theory videos and there is so much grasping at straws to make a theory fit something that is mundane. I love that you didn't go into a rant of "Well I think Shaggy died in episode number whatever and that's why he eats meat again" No, it actually has a simple solution. If I was a vegetarian voice actor I would hate to talk about how much I love meat for a character. It's a simple plot whole that has a simple answer. Thank you for not making it more complicated then it is. This was a refreshing video.

I must admit. I've thought he was a vegetarian since the beginning- err. The first show. I didnt know otherwise until the 100 things about Scooby doo we never knew video.
As a kid i didnt pay attention, but when i heard about it from the video i thought 'Wow, that's kinda cool'.
Now that you mention how it would fit his character, i like it more. I see his appetite as his most notable trait. But it brings depth that he can really be vegetarian without problem around folks who arent.

Allowing him to eat meat can leave his appetite unhindered for more gags. But his vegetarian nature would make it deeper. Whod've thought?

I actually don't mind. It was never shoved down our throats that he was vegetarian so who cares?

What's your favorite Scooby-Doo series/movie? 'What's New' and 'Cyber Chase' will always hold special places in my heart.

I'm all for more Scooby doo trivia. As for Shaggy, i never really thought of him as a vegetarian and the fact that his voice actor demanded the change reminds me of Paul McCartney on the Simpsons when he made Lisa vegetarian.

So, Scott, as an active comic book and Scooby Doo fan, any thoughts on the two Batman/Scooby crossover episodes?

I’ve been watching Scooby since the late 70s. Never noticed him being a vegetarian until this moment. I likely never noticed because hat test season feature aa it bologna and sardines.
