They really need to make this movie. They make like five straight to DVD Scooby Doo movies every year and stuff like Pokémon and anime are still really huge and cultural relevant so if anything, this movie could work better now then ever before.

That kinda sounds like the one episode from What's New Scooby-Doo where the gang was at a gaming convetion that was the attacked by Pokemon-esque mascots. The twist was that Velma, who felt out of place at the gaming convetion, was just stuck in a virtual reality mystery solving game against her volition, but she had fun I guess.

I would love to see a movie where Shaggy and Scooby are the experts in a field and Velma is a bit lost, I feel flipping the tables on their head like that could make for a really entertaining time!

I'm actually glad that they didn't make this. A lot of the reaction to the Pokémon craze, especially from American animators, was more spiteful and bitter than fun. WB canned a lot of their animation department in favor of dubbing anime, and a lot of the animators blamed the Japanese instead of blaming corporate.

Didn't this plot kinda happen in what's new Scooby Doo? With the kuribo looking mascots killing the gang one by one until only Velma is left and she realizes that she is in a simulation.
