Nope. Staying inside from now on our livestock guardian dogs and farm cat can handle it.

Most screams in the woods are just deer, elk and foxes. Foxes in particular just love to scream at eachother.

I adopted a wolf shepherd who was feral for a while. He was huge quiet as a whisper and was fast as the wind. At night he would suddenly be next to you. Scared me a few times until I realized NOTHING in these woods wanted any part of him. RIP Bonus(aka Boney)

When I was little my dad had a farm and sawmill and for some reason he went to cut down a tree with his new hunting puppy tagging along and no one else. Stupid.🤦🏼‍♀️ Something went wrong and he was pinned under the fallen tree. Thinking fast he took his hat off and attached it to Diana’s collar and told her to go home. Twenty minutes later he hears rustling and out of the trees bounds Diana with a coyote pup she had befriended. For a decade every night the entire coyote pack came to the edge of the farm and howled until Diana and my border collie Rebel were let out to run with them. None of our sheep or other livestock were ever bothered by any coyotes.I know wierd right. When Diana died they even did a funeral howl several nights and it was the saddest thing I’ve ever heard.

The single scariest creature I've seen at night in my 30 years of living in the country, hands down, my neighbors dog Jack who comes to visit whenever he feels like it. He's such a good and friendly boy, but has one blue eye and one brown eye. When he emerges from the shadows it gives me a little cardiac episode every single time.

Foxes will scream like that too. Though the most hair-raising sound I ever heard was a rabbit scream in the night. My cats all puffed up immediately and they practically lived outside. We all ran back into the house as fast as we could go!

Lol the cat patrolling with you, what a brave little soldier!
It’s probably a fox. They scream bloody murder whenever the mood takes them & make all kinds of sounds

I lived on a farm, and can tell you when you hear something like that, you don't go out after dark without protection,

Everyone thinks that coyote and wolves are scary to run into at night. Naw it’s a naked crack head that you gotta watch out for. 😂

I live in a somewhat rural area and there used to be some folks traveling the area by foot, even at night and in weather and stuff. My grandma, who lives on the ground floor of our house, told me she heard people walking in our garden at night and shouting "Hello" at her windows on more than one occasion.
So I stayed up one night to see what they wanted and maybe confront them abt it. For most of the night I didn't see anyone but at around 4 am a single person entered our garden, stood in front of the front door for a while and then started pacing. They were slow and checked every window, but I stayed still in the dark of my living room on the first floor. Once they had rounded the house, the person just stood in the back garden and did nothing. I studied them closer but it wasnt anyone I recognized, not a neighbor or teenager playing a prank or anything. Then, after a few minutes, they started calling out "Hello? hello".
Safe to say, I was shitting my pants at this point, had no idea what to do. So, I kept watching and waiting. After some more "Hello"s they turned and started walking around the house again. I could see them leaving the garden and walking over to our neighbors house.
Later in the morning, I told my family what had happend and we decided to report to the police. When we called them they said there had been several occasions in our area of strangers trespassing and checking windows of houses, and that they suspected it was potential burglars or "confused" people trying to give residents a scare. We put up a higher fence around our house and started locking the garden gate, and didn't notice any more strangers intruding. Our neighbors did similar things, one of them even put up motion lights and very visible cameras. After a few weeks, no more strange people where seen in our village, but I still think to this day that it was pretty freaky and I dont want to imagine what could have happened if I had confronted the person that night

We had a problem with a large female mountain lion taking cows and even horses in our area. One night we went out to the barn to check on a pregnant cow we had and it was up in the loft watching cause it heard the sounds of distress and the smell of birth. Our Llama killed it a week later after it slipped into the wrong pen. Llama dont play no games.

I'm guessing it was some kind of big cat like a mountain lion. They make some terrifying noises at night. It's also theorized that they produce an ultra low frequency sound which we've evolved to detect by feeling the sense of impending doom

I just love how Luna goes around with tou with her tail high up and curled (sign of happiness and friendliness). She's as fearless a guardian as the livestock guardian dogs ❤
